He's not superb but nor are England.

Can't think of any successor who would be interested who will make much difference, certainly not an English one anyway. whoever come in will likely keep picking the same old players and playing the same old shit that all the England managers have for the past decade or so.

Scotland vs England
Awww yeaaaaah Scotland vs England on my birthday!

1 problem. Every year the game nearest my birthday always ends up in a loss for the team i'm supporting and its always a derby game. Spurs lost to Arsenal in 2011 & 2012 and England lost to Germany in 2013 in the games nearest my birthday. Please don't make this 4 years in a row England!!

Didn't influence games for England anywhere near as much or like he did for Liverpool which is a shame, but when you look at what's coming through in centre midfield (i.e nothing) it's pretty worrying.

No idea for the armband either, there doesn't seem to be any good choices. Maybe Gary Cahill, not sure.

For England he was a great servant, but not a great player.

Next captain?

No one really stands out, don't think you can give it to Hart without fuelling that boys ego. Maybe Rooney if you still have a role for him, perhaps Cahill or Jagielka but I'm not sure either are leaders.

England squad for Norway & Switzerland games. Nice to see Delph and Colback get called up, not sure why Townsend is there though.

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster, Ben Foster, Joe Hart

Defenders: Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Calum Chambers, Phil Jagielka, Phil Jones, Danny Rose, John Stones

Midfielders: Jack Colback, Fabian Delph, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Raheem Sterling, Andros Townsend, Jack Wilshere

Forwards: Rickie Lambert, Wayne Rooney (C), Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck

Jack Colback and Fabian Delph in the centre of England's midfield. How we have fallen.

+1.

Nothing personal against them two, but the lack of English talent around at the moment is pretty depressing. No wonder the Norway game will be empty.

Unless someone spectacular turns up in the next couple of years, the national team pretty much has to be this for the Euros:

Hart
Walker - Stones - Cahill - Gibbs/Shaw
Wilshere - Henderson
Walcott - Rooney - Sterling
Sturridge

Compare that to Germany and they're probably better in every position.

That's assuming that everyone is fully fit as well, which as we know with a fair few of these players is no guarantee. Hopefully Dan Crowley becomes world class like on FM and we can beat Colombia led by Eder Alvarez Balanta in the 2022 World Cup final...

Well, there's rumours floating about that Crowley has chosen to represent Ireland.

Rooney probably counts as one of the 'Golden Generation', he was at the 2004 and 2006 tournaments.
