Hilarious how John Carver actually put out the team the fans want. (With the exception of Ryan Taylor).

His insistence on marginalizing all the wingers, getting rid of the 'not good enough' players, and constantly selecting the 'star players' has been a disaster.

It's almost as if being wholly reliant on Shola Ameobi for 10 years and then releasing him would completely backfire.

Who do Man Utd fans want to replace De Gea?

Don't really care.

We're never going to get anyone as good as him, so whatever happens we need to improve whats in front of him more than anything else.

On the bright side, since Newcastle won't beat West Ham, it's completely out of our hands. I'm going on Sunday in flip flops and shorts.

Hilarious how the #PardewOut brigade are still convinced that they were right. And he's not the greatest manager Newcastle have ever had.

Nah I'm probably being sour. Been at work all day and come back just in time to see us concede. First one was probably level, 2nd was offside but he was off the pitch so doesn't count?

Same here

Yeah he's only offside if he comes back on the pitch and touches the ball.

So or though it probably won't happen as would need some very unlikely results, but Liverpool could be hoping that we win the FA Cup to make the Europa League.

Oh come on - Sissoko has looked like he can't be arsed since Christmas, Riviere is inept (his goal was even a fluke), Cabella has not looked convincing (I've given up on him and I'm guessing others have), Perez is still being overworked, Janmaat has looked crap of late, Krul can't kick the ball out, Coloccini is wank... frankly, the whole stinking composition has not looked like a Premier League capable team since February. As we also noted, in what universe is Ryan Taylor capable of being a central midfielder? His cowardice was there to see in both goals.

John Carver should not be allowed to work at the club for the rest of time. 1 point from 30 is beyond embarrassing, and he is just a fucking shambles. Bollocks to that stupid cunt.

It's a shame the final games of the season leave a very unlikely escape route to make it interesting. Hull are in the position we were in, needing a win against Man United on the final day to stay up and realistically that is not going to happen. Bruce has an awful record against his old club. It's a shame though, looking at their squad at the beginning of the season you'd never have seen them as in trouble with relegation, or at least I didn't. Newcastle and Sunderland are more "deserving" of relegation in my eyes and could both do with an almost complete rebuild!

The fight for Europa League places are interesting too with people "not wanting it". Don't understand it myself, I'd love to see my club play in Europe at any level. What do Liverpool/Spurs/Southampton and even West Ham/Everton fans thing about that? As I understand it, the nations have been decided for the European slot awarded for fair play (Netherlands, England, ROI) already. Liverpool could even end up qualifying that way again should results go a certain way! http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/fair-play.html

Personally I'd rather see us play in the Europa League than not play any European competition at all. The reputation of the club takes a big hit playing in the Europa League and not Champions League let alone if we didn't feature in a European competition at all! I think its a must to qualify for that for the sake of the club and probably for the sake of Rogers future. Whilst a minority of the fans are unhappy with him, I'm glad hes in charge and think he's a bright manager for the future. Just needs to wisen up in the transfer windows!

I'd say a player would rather play in a club competing in the Europa League than not in any European competition? And plus its potentially a route through to the CL should a club win the EL

Don't think it bears any relevance for a club like us, while we're still a little relevant. Plus we won't win it anyway.

And people would still pick that team. Ant & Dec picked their team and it was the same bar Jonas for Aarons.

But Carver seems totally swayed by public perception - He's gotten rid of Williamson, Ameobi, Gouffran, Anita and Obertan, and picks the star players no matter what. The only place he differs is that he hates Abeid and trusts Ryan Taylor. Also the team completely fell apart when Ryan Taylor went off. Also very impressive that everyone manages to blame Ryan Taylor for the goals, definitely not Janmaat & Krul's faults.

Looking forward to the summer if we stay up, Newcastle will have (probably) gotten rid of Elliot, Harper, Williamson, Perch, Simpson, Taylor, Jonas, Ameobi, Routledge, Guthrie, Obertan, Ameobi & Best all in the name of progress. For about the third of the cost of Remy Cabella.

Tim Krul;
Danny Simpson - Not good enough
Mike Williamson - Not good enough
Fabricio Coloccini (c),
Davide Santon;
Ryan Taylor - Not good enough
Cheick Tiote,
Yohan Cabaye (James Perch 78) - Not good enough
Jonas Gutierrez - Not good enough
Shola Ameobi - Not good enough (Leon Best 75) - Not good enough
Demba Ba (Gabriel Obertan 89) - Not good enough

The team that beat Man Utd 3-0 in the high point of the past decade on the way to finishing 5th. The majority easily not good enough.

I thought our teamsheet yesterday looked crap. I know its a bugbear but Ryan Taylor is not a central midfielder. I don't really get why he's been played there. If you swapped him and Jonas, its still not ideal, but at least they're playing somewhere relevant to their positional ability.

I'm not excusing Krul - he's looked appalling for most of the campaign and his kick-outs give away so many chances/goals. Janmaat too has defended poorly frequently of late. Anita, Gouffran and Williamson appear in too many thrashings, although I've always thought VA was not used properly, which was a sensation accentuated by his recent comments.

Much as I am happy to slag off certain players (and certain ones deserve it), collectively, the team is filled with shit. Frankly, a nuclear option is preferable. But it's probably too radical to get rid of everyone at once. Least in the mind of the twat in charge, it probably is. Either that or he'd just rebuild like Blackpool and we beat Derby's record. Or Blackpool's, tier depending ofc.
And yet he'll still probably be given the managerial role on a permanent basis!

If we get relegated there's talk he'll be given trust of getting us back up. Which can only mean we'll be stuffed by MK Dons, Bristol City, Brighton et all.
