BREAKING NEWS: Lee Clark confirmed as our new manager. Absolutely out of nothing. Very pleased with that though, payed some sort of compensation to move him away from Kilmarnock, so there is still interest from our chairman to keep us up at any cost, although I'm still very surprised at the timing of it and wonder where that will leave Chris Brass now

Relegation confirmed
Sometimes you have to stand in the shadows; to see the light.

OYSTON OUT
Yeah pretty much. Lee Clark is a fraud as a football manager.
We were going down with Brass anyway. At least show some #ambitionz and #pashunz while at it.

Fo shua.
Huddersfield only 4 points off the automatic places now! Great effort.

I know I can't talk being a Rovers fan but how bad are Villa? Bruce got some good results at first but they've been dire lately.

Another one goal defeat tonight for us, Akpan's goal at the end should have stood then he got sent off for placing his hands on the referee - not pushing him. Still though you can't expect to have to score 3 goals to win every game and the league table doesn't lie, so it's another step closer to League 1....awful.

Need to keep it going. Another 20 points will guarantee play-offs, which has to be a minimum now.

As for you guys, I saw the highlights. Wednesday very lucky - yet again. Not seen the Sam Hutchinson challenge on Gallagher which I heard was a bad one and should have seen Hutchinson marching, but having seen a few other decisions... Christ. They got more luck in one game than we've had all season. The Emnes shot I'll trust the linesman with because the camera isn't conclusive, but no idea what Akpan was penalised for. Not sure what Akpan did was a red either - looked like he misjudged the distance between him and the ref to me. I know why the ref sent him off, but no further action needed there for me - I see the FA have charged him, presumably for threatening to upset Sheffield Wednesday and their luck brigade.
I think Huddersfield are the only team capable of breaking us and Brighton at the top.
Short take: YAAAAAAASSSSSS!!! Fek me that was quite special!!

Absolute extra special goal from Andy Tutte and thank god the keeper had an actual cluster in stoppage time, allowing Miller to get the winner. Didn't make that easy, but it's the kind of result that can turn your season around

The hell's happened to Villa? 1 point from the last 8 matches, just six points above the bottom 3, and seemingly unable to get out of their spiral. I don't quite feel the gloating that Barnsley, Forest and Brentford did for beating Villa after they signed key players from them in January, but still weird.

Still, we won. For all the pontificating, and performances that haven't been as good as some would like, we're still in a great position. Just need to bring it home.

Think it's the same issue that occured with Wolves few seasons ago. They've got good players, a rich owner and a decent enough manager to be nowhere near a relegation fight, a complete overhaul on paper but there is still a losing mentality going around at the club. Go 1-0 down in a Championship game and the fans are all over you again, just like last season. Players like Bjanarson for example. I rated him at Basel but yesterday he was absolute pants, couldn't hit a donkey's arse with a banjo and looked low on confidence altogether. Villa didn't look bad last night either, until they made an absolute meal out of two corners which literally fekked them over.

What the solution to this might be? I don't know. Should be trying to get in some consistency and keep Bruce for a while instead of pulling the trigger again.

Oh, and hopefully Hogan's injury isn't that bad but there is little hope imo. Looked nasty.

Just confirmed Blackburn have sacked Owen Coyle and his backroom staff.

So weird that backroom team got 6 points off Newcastle and rarely looked like beating anyone else. May well just be rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic unless someone truly Warnock-like is out there.

Clearly its never been historically that easy to bounce straight back, given the historical data suggests more teams fail to get promoted from the Championship than do so in their first post-drop season, and some teams just sink like a stone. QPR last season looked pretty terrible, Derby took years to look like they might be promotion challengers after that 2007-08 collapse, the last few seasons have further examples, and of course, Wolves is something of a biggie given they fell straight through and into League One.

I guess I had fears in pre-season of Newcastle having some of that given how many games we lost in the 4 seasons before the drop, but whatever happened seems to have relatively stabilised things. Maybe its down to the continual hire-and-fire or high volume player trading they were managing even before this season, but they don't look settled, and they never seem to find a solution.

Certainly, if Kodija is out long-term, Villa will have trouble given he's their top scorer, and that's even before the pretty bad looking blow for Hogan, given how shit his luck is with long-term injuries. Although I still don't think they'll go down - they may be having problems, but I'd be surprised if there weren't 3 worse teams.

Blackburn sacked Coyle? Well can guarantee @BR. is currently doing cartwheels - just annoying the prick guided Blackburn to two victories against us.

As for last night, we were pretty woeful up until we scored in the first half, second half was a hell of a lot better (well, it couldn't have been any worse) and pleased that little prick Lansbury scored an own goal to secure Newcastle's three points. Back top but we need to ensure victory against Bristol City as we then face a hat trick of away trips to Brighton, Huddersfield and Reading ffs.

The timing of Coyle's sacking is very, very weird. They've been bottom all season and come off the back of a decent game vs United, so why now? Unless Venky's have someone lined up (possibly not) very confusing as to why they did that now. Good move for Rovers still, Owen Coyle is a twat.
http://666kb.com/i/dgwmh8dnsj5h3h2ww.jpg
Given that it takes Venky's about two weeks to approve anything, chances are this was all agreed well before the United game, probably after the dire draw against Rotherham.

I'm delighted about the long overdue removal of somebody who should never have been here in the first place, it gives us at least a chance of survival that IMO we didn't have under him. But it's hard to be too happy about anything at Rovers, given that Venky's are the main problem.

Crucial win tonight. We've not played well - Reading have stifled us. As predicted, we've missed the first penalty we've got in the league (VLP given responsibility for some reason - good save, but why was he taking it?), but we've plugged away and got the winner with a cracker from Billing. Only 4 points behind Brighton now, with their next two being Reading away and Newcastle at home.
Tony Mowbray is the new Blackburn manager.

Given his last job was with SISU in their efforts to run Coventry into the ground, he sure knows how to pick his jobs.

Ehh, he probably won't get blamed too much if things inevitably go tits up so it's not all bad.
