@Gregorius Eddo, if the source image is small and/or of low quality, then it should be cut in 180x180, instead of 250x250.
@Orange2000 we look to have the cut cropped closer to the chin, leaving no more than 2-3 pixels above the head and beneath the chin.
Basically, we want the player's face to fill the canvas for the 250px cutout, which would mean cropping the image along these red lines:
