@mons What adjustment do you use for brightness? The shadows in this cutout are really clipped. I tried fixing them and cleaning some edges also (I think I went too far with darkening the hair edges though...). IMO the best adjustment layers are levels or curves. This is the Levels settings I used for my version.
I just use the brighten tool and increase it by 10-20. I wasn't aware of your method and I'll be seeing how to use it for future reference; will use your cut as well
