Gouffran apparently Tweeted he's gonna join tomorrow.

I still kinda think we could use another striker... but who knows - at £2million he could be another bargain.

Aye being called an ass for joining our club by a guy with a blue and orange hairdo is an unusual touch

As for us, the signings of Yanga-Mbiwa, Haidara, Sissoko and Gouffran, if they all happen, seem to indicate we're keen on giving the French national team their own private national pool.

A decision is apparently expected on Fabricio Coloccini's future tomorrow, with his dad saying we want him to stay until the end of the season.

Be a shame if he goes but if I'm being honest it kinda feels inevitable, not least given he's had a poor campaign. Kinda means we need two rather than one new CB, even if the chances of us making a signing are as remote as ever.

Was browsing through the paper today and seen this Man of the Match When did they sign him!?

I'm guessing QPR beat us to signing him as well, the bastards.

Because the referee said he wasn't insulting or abusive.

Lets not let facts get in the way of a good story though.

Talking of facts, the only thing he said that was contentious (I thought) was that we haven't had much luck from that lino and he's the one who missed Drogba's ridiculously offside goal against us, the implication is obvious, but I don't think you can ban someone for observing things.

Obviously photos made it look a lot worse than it ultimately was but I daresay he probably wasn't far off verging into insulting/abusive territory, which is always a risk in heat of the moment reactions.

Ferguson should be banned for what he said... Shouldn't be able to go around saying the linesman wasn't doing his job!

Come on - he got away with coming within a few lines of punching the ref at the start of the 2nd half of the Man U-Newcastle game in December and got away with that. Like criticism of the lino is going to register on the FA's radar.

Surely you'd cheer a United win as Spurs winning or drawing gives them the advantage in the 4th place pursuit...

I don't know how genuine it is though - I think the Sky Sources thing is a parody account, which is annoying and more fool me. But Pardew is definitely on shaky ground, not least given some bookies have him as favourite for next out.

Sky sources/Twitter are reporting Alan Pardew has been fired.

After yesterday, I'm not surprised - that game felt like the watershed where it was revealed he was no longer good enough. Just hope Ashley doesn't appoint Joe Kinnear again.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa?

The Twittersphere is also reporting Arsenal have enquired.

After QPR beat us to Remy last week that would be fucking typical.

No the crowd are a disgrace. Far too many arrogant fans who expect Newcastle to steamroller any opposition. Booing a bad shot or cross is simply unacceptable.

I don't even like (and never have) Pardew, and I despise rhetoric about the crowd being the '12th man', but in SJP it's a poisonous atmosphere that erodes all confidence and composure, and leads to the conceding off soft goals and the inability to actually play well. Hopefully the crowds will drop and the performances will come back. They boo backwards passes ffs.

Plus I can't stand all the fair weather fans who backed Pardew last year and Ashley's transfer policy and acted all smug, and now complain all the time about them now.

Poisonous atmospheres never help but the generation of such things begins if the players don't offer any reasons to be cheerful, and especially over long stretches like this entire season has provided. We had to win this one today and for the majority of it we were, but then Pardew threw it away with some spectacularly inept changes.

If there's nothing to be optimistic about, people will turn and there really is nothing to be optimistic about in our current situation. I am incredibly pessimistic about the team at times but I have been positive that, at some point, we'd get our act together. Today though was evidence we can't, especially if Cabaye is injured again as Pardew claimed and if we keep playing Mike Williamson as a first choice CB.

You've only got another 7 1/2 years of Pardrew, not long really. Or a massive pay off for him.

As posted, we have a failsafe to prevent a stonking pay-off.

I know, Pardew speaking sense for once.

The second half tactics and substitutions were absolutely dreadful, but they still weren't the biggest factor. Morons.

What?

It was more empty bluster hiding from the fact he got the big decisions wrong, and there wouldn't have been negativity if he hadn't made such stupid decisions. Again.

It also doesn't help his job security - if he comes up with bollocks like that, then more people will want him out the door. Defeat by Villa in 2 weeks - which looks likely given they're somehow winning - and he's finished.

Is it too late to ask Nigel Adkins if he fancies succeeding Pardew again? He can't do any worse...

Yes we've had injuries, yes we've had bad dealings in transfers, yes we seem to have no luck, but our tactics and substitutions are awful, and the players don't seem to have either the confidence or fitness to win any game and that is all down on Monsieur Pardew. Defeat to Villa and it's the end of the road.

I'd say Liverpool are in danger of becoming mid-table also-rans. They've slipped away from the Champions League spots and it's not necessarily showing they will be doomed to join the mid-table club, but they have potential to get mired in it - bit like we did for the 2/3 (technically 5) years before our 2009 relegation.

I thought Dyer wasn't on that much - maybe £10K a week at most, but surely not on £65K?

Saying that, it's faintly incredible Redknapp said he had a team not worth the vast amount of money, and then he spends even more money than any single player currently on his books. It's amazing, and a faintly ridiculous gamble, not least considering he's still lumbered with a defence that reeks of incompetence and doesn't look that bothered in bolstering it.

Also a surprise that Remy and Yann M'Villa were allegedly Arsenal and Spurs targets a while back, and are now set to join that mess.

I can see where your coming from, Mike Ashley is a funny character he's not got enough money to put towards new players but he's got enough to try and get a foot in Rangers

Shows what I now as I thought UEFA prohibited such moves.

Some Newcastle fans think that Ashley is looking to make back his cash then sell up in a year or two, which wouldn't be too surprising, but surely he knows relegation would completely decimate us as an asset.

I wouldn't worry Numb i can't really see the Toon Army going down, the team compared to a few years ago that went down are alot better plus you've been missing Cabaye, Tiote and Ben Arfa which are your two most creative players and your midfield "General" as it were. I think you definitely need another striker cause if Cissé get a bad injury your are in trouble but i'd probably be concentrating on a defender cause apart from Colocinni and Taylor your center backs are not good enough by a long long way.

It's less the relegation threat - it's troubling but we should be able to pull away a little with a few good results - and more than we need more players but don't ever seem able to sign them. With any luck we'll either get some players or those coming back will not only help but stay injury free this time but I'm not quite so confident we'll be able to sign the 2/3 players we actually need.

To be fair it shows the quality of the players that Pardew has brought in that QPR waited until Newcastle had an offer accepted for a player they wanted before they offered. Harry wanted to make sure Pardew wanted him, that way he should be a good player.

I doubt QPR will offer him £100K a week, I mean come on your bid hasn't been accepted yet

It's weird that Redknapp said Remy was plain uninterested when he met him, and then from seemingly nowhere he is. Maybe we've dodged a bullet if he was lured by the "throw-money-at-player-until-he-joins" ethos.

Who knows... the comment on Aubameyang was a poor attempt at sarcasm but given we rarely sign players we need when we need them, that or a club also turning up is probably inevitable.

Yeah it was a classic dick move on two levels, firstly don't comment on other teams players if your not actually going to put a bid in for him and secondly if your after the player and you know you can get him cheap why the fuck would you want to tell everyone else about it?!

It was epically unprofessional to watch, and also somewhat annoying that the media reaction was to whip up a chase for Ba rather than say Redknapp was wrong to do such a thing. And yes, it did seem like a foolish move, perhaps even more given he never joined Spurs anyway.

Oh well, guess we look elsewhere - I hear we have a bid lodged for Pierre Aubameyang, assuming QPR don't offer him £100K a week as well.

That's a fair reason to dislike him, cause i hated Real Madrid for trying (and succeeding) in unsettling Ronaldo but in all honestly Ba's a bit of a mercenary. He went to West Ham and had made sure he had a relegation release clause (not a relegation release fee), then to Newcastle and from the January after he signed he was only interested in leaving once the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea were interested.

True about Ba but at the time, the clause was not that well known, if at all. It felt like a deliberate ploy to unsettle us by nicking our best performing player and saying he could do it on the cheap for good measure, which was excessively unprofessional and was naturally ignored by the Premier League.

Yeah but we don't know the overall squad wage total or what the squad budget is, for example Dyer may have been on £35K - £40K p/w and i imagine Bosingwa and Cissé are on similar if not more and their both supposed to be on their way out the door, so they may have more money for wages but not happy with how much the players are on

We at least know one - Bosingwa has £65,000 a week, which he revealed after fining him - but a lot of his squad, especially the summer buys, must be on pretty hefty wages. They may well be looking to offload options but I can't imagine the likes of Cesar, Green, Taarabt, Granero, Wright-Phillips, Park, Hoilett, Johnson, Zamora and others being on cheap wages. Although I always assumed Dyer was on a pay-as-you-play deal due to his ridiculous luck with injuries.

The bitterness is probably as much that I find Redknapp a source of great irritation, and have done since he broke the news of Ba's release clause and openly tried to exploit it through the media last January.

Harry Redknapp is baffling. After we beat his ragtag mob he said his players weren't worth their salaries, and then he goes and trumps the lot of them. He started the wheels in motion that bankrupted Portsmouth and it seems he's leading QPR into similar territory.

Saying this, whoever does our transfers is of great frustration. We never seem able to sign players we need when we need them and I daresay Debuchy may well be it for incomings.

Sky and their Redknapp love-in are trying to claim QPR still want Loic Remy from under our noses - given Redknapp has already admitted that when he met Remy the player didn't seem interested, it seems unlikely he'll move to Loftus Road.
