A random Friday night fixture for ourselves, we weren't on TV so don't know why we got moved?! Either way, another win! Our position in the table boosted as much by games played as by points. Not too happy with our games at the moment, but if we keep getting the odd win then I can't see Larry going. Not a good start for our old manager Appleton at last night's opponents Lincoln.

Fixtures are scheduled to be played week commencing 28 October 2019.

Decent enough draw I reckon, still a chance for some of the smaller clubs to advance and some big teams will go out.

Porto, Young Boys and Feyenoord for Rangers.

Tough enough group!

Arguably the toughest group of them all.

Another good weekend win away at the seaside, albeit at Southend. Dominated the first half, second half our new signing Husband got himself sent off because he was lazy. Ball dribbled out to corner flag but he couldn't be bothered to follow it at first, so Southend player Cox played got there and bought the red card going down dramatically. Wasn't he best tackle either but think Cox made it look worse than it was. Still, thrashed them 3-1! Fonz has upped his game since we spent money on two good strikers, keeping them on the bench!

Well, this is something different! Can't wait to see how he develops and where his career takes him. Could it be that he stays at Spurs for the rest of his career as he just becomes simply too expensive to buy?

Makes no sense to me, I guess the only problem here is if Dybala can perform in the Prem as he'll it find it a lot tougher than playing for Juve in Serie A. Also makes you wonder why Juve no longer want him and how on earth they believe Lukaku to be a better option.

Surprise, surprise - this isn't happening now!

Well. two of our teams fell down into the Europa League as they failed to overcome their opposition here. Those teams being Dundalk and TNS. However, Celtic eased through and now face sterner opposition in Cluj of Romania.

Firstly, let us remember those newly fallen in the latest round of fixtures. Shamrock Rovers may have got the home win but their opposition did better at their home. Crusaders couldn't match the Premier League might of Wolves and were fed to the pack. The Nomads went home too after losing to Belgrade, though they did get some unexpected fans from Kilmarnock who they knocked out previously.

Some teams did progress, Rangers against Progrés Niederkorn for example! Another Scottish team, Aberdeen, comfortably advanced too with a 5-0 home victory after a cagey 1-1 draw. Linfield are through the next round after a hard fought battle, again their second leg home tie seeing them through.

So the next lot of British and Irish fixtures are:
Sutjeska Niksic v Linfield (a Montenegrin side, every chance for David Healey's side there?!)
Slovan Bratislava v Dundalk (A tough fixture away in Slovakia)
Pyunik v Wolverhampton Wanderers (might want to ask Chelsea and Arsenal fans about travelling to Armenia!)
Ludogorets Razgrad v TNS (I don't see the Welsh side getting anything here!)
Midtjylland v Rangers (The Scottish side will have to step up as they have coasted through so far)
HNK Rijeka v Aberdeen (Another tough call for a Scottish side)

The man is a moron, but for me the blame still lies heavily with the EFL in their fit and proper persons "test".

Elsewhere, great win for ourselves today. The Oystons are gone, Larry is back and with him came just under 12,000 fans to Bloomfield road. Bristol Rovers normally do well against us so glad Spearing actually put in a performance worthy of his captaincy for once and scored the penalty and set up the, somewhat unfairly, disliked Gnanduillet for his goal. The Gas hit the post in each half so we were a bit fortunate but I'm glad all over that the season is back and I can properly support my team again!

How is Assombalonga a Championship striker, super lucky with his goal and skies his penalty in tonight's game away at Luton.

Entertaining 3-3 draw though!

So, grass roots football is seeing the introduction of sin bins for players who show dissent.

https://news.sky.com/story/rugby-style-sin-bins-coming-to-grassroots-football-11773182

Do you think this is a good idea? Should it be implemented higher up the leagues? The EFL? The Premiership?

Edit: Wanted a Poll but can't see to find the option

@terriersmad Don't Bolton have about 6 players in their squad though, half of which are goalies! As a Blackpool fan it is hard to sympathise with two of our rivals, especially when there was a staunch section of Bury fans wishing our demise! However, no club deserves to be so poorly mismanaged. I think the EFL should bring in the German models of ownership where the fans play a more integral role. Of course the Premiership clubs would never agree to it but from League 1 downwards I don't see why not. As you say, I can see a few clubs falling in the next few seasons - may be even a cluster of them together. It's sad to say it is probably what it will take before those useless parasites on the EFL board do something. They were of no help to us.

Hope for Bolton, not so much for Bury. Which is strange given Bolton have debts of around £40mill whereas Bury is more in the £8mill region

BOLTON WANDERERS

At its meeting today, the EFL Board was appraised of the position in regard to the outstanding information requested in respect of ongoing matters at Bolton Wanderers.

The Board has fully considered the Club’s further submissions and is satisfied that they are sufficient to meet the requirements of the League subject to the completion of formal documentation.

As a result the EFL Board has opted not to suspend their opening day fixture with Wycombe Wanderers and it will remain as originally scheduled on Saturday 3 August 2019 at 3pm.

BURY

Following continued and comprehensive discussions with the ownership at Bury and other interested parties throughout Monday, the EFL Board is not satisfied it has received the necessary evidence in regard to the outstanding information it requires that demonstrates how the Club will be funded moving forwards.

As a result of not meeting Monday’s 5pm deadline, which had been extended on two previous occasions, the EFL Board feels it has been placed in an unenviable position and, regrettably, has opted to take the reluctant decision to suspend Saturday’s opening day fixture with MK Dons under the provision of EFL Regulation 28.2.

In addition, the EFL Board, if not in possession of the necessary evidence by 12pm on Friday 2 August 2019, will make a determination as to whether to suspend Bury’s away fixture at Accrington Stanley on Saturday 10 August 2019.

As has been the case throughout this entire process, the EFL will continue to offer its full assistance to the ownership at Bury, but remains clear that while the League is here to support the Club through some extremely complex and complicated issues, the outstanding matters can only be resolved with the cooperation from the Club itself.

As I thought, FA regulations clearly state a playing kit is only permitted to have "one single area not exceeding 250 square centimetres on the front of the shirt".

Confirmed to be a spoof now anyway,

Well, as @davysrfc probably watched, Dundalk took their game against Riga all the way to penalties and won 5-4! Linfield dropped down to the Europa League qualifiers as they succumbed to Rosenborg. Scotland and Wales both celebrated their teams going through, Celtic and TNS respectively.

TNS v FC Copenhagen
Celtic v Nomme Kalju (Estonian team)
Dundalk v FC Qarabag (everyone's favourite Azerbaijan team)

So, as above, couldn't watch any of the games last night. Which is a shame as there were a couple of crackers!

The biggest shock was Connah's Quay Nomads beating Kilmarnock 2-0 away from home to progress into the next round, couple of red cards in that game too! Their reward, a fixture against much tougher opposition in the guise of Partizan Belgrade. Aberdeen replicated their first leg 2-1 victory to advance and, keeping in Scotland, Ranges thrashed their Gibraltan opponents. Crusaders won a hard fought tie to take them deeper into the Europa League along with Shamrock Rovers.

Cork City won their game on the night, but lost on aggregate overall. Cliftonville crumbled on the night, and Ballymena couldn't perform the miracle they needed. St Pat's Athletic repeated their first leg game, unfortunately that was a 2-1 loss.

So, the next round of fixtures for the British and Irish teams:

HB Tórshavn v Linfield (new entrants and they play on the Tuesday, not Thursday)
Aberdeen v Chikhura Sachkhere (a Georgian team)
Connah's Quay Nomads v Partizan Belgrade
Rangers v Progrès Niederkorn (who knocked out Cork City)
Shamrock Rovers v Apollon Limassol (based in Cyprus)
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Crusaders (this one surely has to be on tv?!)
