just the file will need to be set to international rules rather than continental rules at the end

the best way to get names into the game is to add people to the DB make them old so they will retire and their name gets re used then in the regen pool

You should be able to do this using the EDT files😉

it seems to be as outlined in editor forum I can ban clubs from UEFA comps but it has to be done in a file created using continental rules and you have to have these clubs linked to another comp eg a ESL

It's all about the money and big clubs having even a bigger slice of it so the gap will get even worse

NB you need to have all the nations you want to send clubs to UEFA comps set in the Nations tab- you can copy the nations list from my template file to save time and just paste it into your file

Adding squad selection rules continental rules.

You need to add fixture rules to get a set of rules created you can then allocate to a competition

NB it starts at 0 and I allocate a set per comp so 0 is UCL

when you have added a rule it allows editing of the squad/match rules and also FFP[though this has to be set to enabled and a set of FFP rules added ]

As said earlier in the thread I have found for many years that overall squad selection rules is bugged so by pass it by using match day rules

There are a few things that need to be done to allow this like setting the fixture rule for a comp eg UCL  to be -1

 and set the rules to be fixed format

NB when you come to add squad rules as I show in image above the overall squad rules has been buggy for approx 5 + years in continental rules 

so to save the hassle use match day rules it works just as well there will be no overall squad but you can impose rules to individual clubs /teams from a league if you wish have a go there are lots of options

using this template I have created the ESL and edited other comps too to suite my needs 

so this gives you the chance to do it too

NB due to the nature of this file it cannot be tested in the editor, so when you make changes you have to save them using EXPORT the file has to be XML

you by pass this[verification] by getting the file ‘’game ready ‘’ by using notepad +++ or just notepad

open the xml file

remove that line below 

It will now look like this

then save it ..its now good to go

1. If you want to make the ESL its own entity and only where the elites play their only football then that is possible for sure as you suggest
2. I use the old European structure with just the winners of a nations league taking part in UCL and so if an ESL club wins its league then the next best placed non ESL club takes part in UCL, it works fine
3. These sections have to be addressed if you are changing club qualification  numbers

@Carlito85  has done brilliant work with his files on this download them and see how its done 

infact he has a project on the go now I know but we have had some issues with the editor so its proved a challenge at times😉

The Champions League …well mostly clubs who didnt win anything but are one of the rich clubs in the top leagues… hasnt got the same ring 😁

1. stopping clubs qualifying for other UEFA comps whilst being in the ESL

@Jammmu    I think you may have misunderstood a few things mate

 perhaps its better to start a thread on the ESL and keep this on topic

This thread was about banning clubs from Europe and I have given the work around and then the thread has morphed(by all of us) into a ESL thread

using yugoslavia etc is just to get the clubs ‘’banned ‘’

an ESL comp is a continental one and has to be set to a continent-Europe and not a nation I have it explained here-

there are no issues about dual nationality/transfers etc etc as the ‘elite’ clubs still play in their domestic league and based in their home nations generating regens from there…just to clarify again the ESL is not set to a nation it is only the elite clubs and the ESL clubs are not based in the nation used to get them ‘’banned'' from UEFA comps

It's me who has put the file together there is no involvement from anyone else just to be clear

Just off to bed but you can ban players from playing internationals using pre game editor

But even better you can ban with fmrte so that's the way I will do it so when the ESL clubs sign a player I can ban them immediately from internationals

and with the super league elites out of UEFA

You need to do this in continental rules only

Create the comp

database-competitions- select ADD

Then name the comp what you want and set it to Europe

You can have this as a standalone file or incorporate it as part of other European Club continental changes by using my Template file if you wish

I use the old European Cup set up-

This works fine in game I am testing at present with no issues

even though clubs finish in UCL places they just play in Super League
