#884606 Cut-Out Faces Megapack TECHNICAL SUPPORT thread - first post updated for FM26

Placing custom files within the Steam installation folder is strongly not recommended, and can be the reason why they don't work as intended. If there are space availability reasons, it should be placed anywhere else on the drive apart from there, and you can then change the user data folder accordingly.

a) That is not the correct folder where to install the megapack. You've installed in the Steam folder, and it should go in the Documents section.
b) The latest megapack has a different filename structure (as per here), so you don't seem to have the latest megapack files anyway.
Delete what you have, and download everything from scratch.

Given the current cut is almost 6 years old, I think this might well be an improvement nonetheless.

@Diego Can, images in which the face is as small as this are not worth requesting, let alone cutting.

They're certainly not all useless. All the pending ones are good enough to provide a cut-out. You'll just have to be patient, or give cutting a go yourself. This thread contains guidelines for what we're looking for in our cuts in terms of dimensions, snow, collars, face orientation etc. and video tutorials for each element.
I would recommend using remove.bg, which is a free online tool which removes the background to an excellent standard, for free and almost instantly.
Here's a couple of videos on how to use it, one when combined with Photoshop and another using photopea.com, which is a free online app so close to Photoshop that it has the same shortcuts, layout and icons.
If you don't have Photoshop, photopea.com is the tool I would recommend to use to tweak the draft cut produced by remove.bg. It's more powerful and versatile than GIMP and other similar tools.

No idea what happened there, but he seems to be neither in the official database nor our data update. I'll save the cut to be added to the megapack if he's ever added π

@Ignacio Espinoza Osses, when the source image is small or lacking quality, as seems to have been the case here, it's best to have the cut in 180x180, instead of 250x250.

@bursasporlu16, these aren't close to being large enough to provide improvements. Please read the guidelines, and use a bit of common sense.

@matthewgaskell9, any idea who your image should belong to? Shame to waste the cut-out.

You need to pay more attention to what we tell you. In my reply to your private messages, I specifically asked you to also upload the sources, not just the cuts. Secondly, most of these seem to have had the necks edited with the eraser tool, and they also have no collars, which are required. Pay more attention to the guidelines in the first post of this thread. Finally, as also mentioned in my reply to your private messages, use remove.bg and photopea, not paint.net.

No, and I'm sick of having to explain the guidelines to you. Read them, understand them, and post only improvements.

@VarelaTB, good effort, but this cut has a fair bit of snow.
Snow is the colour from the background of the cut which was not totally removed. It is often white (hence βsnowβ) but it can be other colours. It can often be easily removed by putting the cut through remove.bg.
Here's a video on how you can easily remove any remaining snow thereafter within Photoshop:

It's an intentional change made by SI, and there doesn't seem to be a way around it π

The bad lighting means it'll take too much work to cut, and it might not provide an improvement anyway.

@Eddie0843, for future reference, when you have a lot of images to upload, then you should upload them as a pack instead of individually and save the both of us some time.
You can also upload up to 50 images per pack instead of just a maximum of 3 when done individually.

Can you try viewing players from their club page, and then from the page of their national team? Does it make a difference?

It's just a question of brightening and downsizing it to 180x180, I reckon.
Also, @krissmed, do keep in mind that I have to download every individual cut manually. It would make my life that little bit easier on a day-to-day basis if you could upload images in a pack instead of one-by-one. Would save you some time too tbh π

@3Letters, you never finalised this upload. Also, as a rule of thumb, it's better to give us the original sources, rather than images with the background removed.

Again, can you provide us with screenshots of your megapack folder, showing clearly the full path itβs located in as well as how many images are in that folder?

@Ignacio Espinoza Osses, we want the player's face to fill the canvas for the 250px cutout, which would mean cropping the image along these red lines:
At the same time, we want all cuts to include a little bit of collar. Since in some sources like this one, the person in the image may have a longer neck than usual, this would be quite difficult to achieve naturally.
Here's a video of the process on how to nudge the collar upwards:

Current cut is recent and of good quality, and this cut has loads of snow too.
