If you have already started a save-game and wish to change German, Italian and French club names to the correct ones, there is a workaround. However, you will lose the club nicknames.

Open the City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file. All the changes I've made in the editor data file are included in this file, however they are preceded by a hashtag (#) which makes the lnc file ignore any text following it.

You can remove the hashtags from in front of any of the "CLUB_LONG_NAME_CHANGE" and "CLUB_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE" codes which you wish to change, and this will display these changes in your save game.

Basically, instead of

I'm pretty sure I'm just missing something obvious, but do I make this change in both 1500 and 1530 inc files or just 1530? I think I miswrote in my earlier post, sorry.

Oh I have to put it in both 1530 and 1500 that fixed it, thanks for the help Mons, really appreciate it. Sorry for causing the trouble.

One more thing though- to change the German club names do I have to edit both 1500 or 1530 or just one?

None I can think of. Can I again ask which part isn't working and how you can tell. Uploading screenshots would help me identify the issue.

Oh yeah I misread last time sorry. The answer is no changes have occurred. The European cups are still the same name and the German national team has not fixed (they have been called up more than once since it was "installed" or whatever the correct word is). Also editing the "City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc" file has had no changes to the names of German teams.

You shouldn't need to do anything in-game and all the changes should be displayed in the game.

Ah, ok. Is there any other reason it may not be working in game (eg conflicting with skin)? The save was started last christmas (dec 2014) if that means anything and is a few seasons in.

Those files are installed correctly, but those particular ones will one take effect if you start a new game.

It's the edt and lnc folders from within the download which are save-game compatible. Have you changed them too?

I have changed the edt and inc files.

Is there something I have to do when in game? I think I have done everything, I just want to make sure.

I have followed the steps but no changes have occured (this is in an already-started game). What could be the cause of it? Here is a picture of the editor data folder and whats inside it if that helps.
