With Oviedo's performance last night, that'd probably be the best option for Everton.
Slashman X
It was more than just trying to buy a player, it was hypocrisy and self-indulgence and all that jazz.

It's pretty well documented.
I still think it's pretty disgusting, it's not surprising because football fans are emotional people but I think it's downright bizarre to abuse a manager that clearly did well for your club and then turn around and act like he's somehow in the wrong for thinking that the abuse was a bit out of order.
Just one of those oddities of being a football fan that I'm sure some will class as 'banter'.

He belittled the club with his pursuit of our players. Something he had a go at Man City for when they chased Lescott. He also belittled Martinez with his pre match comments. "He has very good players there. I always told them they could play without a manager because they are very well organised. But Roberto is doing a really good job keeping it going."....
Ninja
I think that it's a massive stretch to say that he's belittling Martinez with that.

Hardly.
Its one of those statements that you can choose to take offence to if you want to, but it's pretty obvious it wasn't meant.
He's hardly going to go something like 'Martinez has done magnificent there, cause I was fucking useless at that job and all the players were shit' is he?
Don't see the outrage for thinking that he did a decent job and left the club in a healthy state, which Martinez has carried on. It's kind of stating the obvious.

But that's what he has said basically.
Essentially, when you strip away the phrasing he's said: Everton are a good team with good players and Martinez has done a good job to keep that going.
I literally have no idea how thats a controversial statement.

I've noticed a lot of people can't relate to the widespread animosity from Everton fans towards Moyes, but it really was an accumulation of several different things that just pushed me to fervently dislike the bastard.
We supported him for the 11 years he was here, and I do have some fond memories in recent history: bollocking City repeatedly, that 4-4 draw against Utd, Tim Cahill, Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka in particular, etc... But I'll cut to the point. Individually I'd probably let these slide, but the culmination of all of them over this past summer I cannot abide.
1. Verbally agreeing a contract with another club while still contracted to us, bit of a betrayal, but whatever, it is Utd, I sort of get that.
2. Transfer approach for Baines & Felli - the initial 28m bid for both, followed by £30m, then £32m (I don't recall the exact numbers) - an absolute insult to both fans and the players, and reeking of hypocrisy from Lescott saga.
3. Insinuating that Roberto Martinez is "holding back their careers" by not selling them (at ludicrous price) to Utd. This was the last straw for me, I found that totally disrespectful and suffice to say there's no love lost for that man anymore.
Grabbing that win at Old Trafford for the first time in over a decade against him was unbelievably satisfying.

Please god let this never happen. I want to keep Baines til he's 40.

Haven't you heard...Moyes is shit now?

I'm going to agree with you on this, he still dallies on the ball a bit much but at the same time I like that he has such confidence. In contrast, Jack Rodwell - who granted, is a different type of midfielder - was frequently anonymous when he played. Barkley's decision making should improve as he matures.

I get the impression Barkley is keen to show everyone how good he is and, at times, keeps possession too long, dicks around with the ball and generally does pointless shit to prove the point of his talent. In many ways I think Ronaldo underwent a similar progression to what Barkley will have to do. As Ronaldo became better the pointless tricks and flicks and general showmanship declined, he became more ruthless and far more willing to go for the jugular.
Barkley doesn't have as high a ceiling (not that thatsa criticism) as Ronaldo, but it's an example he would do well to follow.
