This file is intended for FM13.3, and will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are re-installed when patches come out.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install this file:
Step 1: Go to
PC
Step 2: Delete the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the folder above
Step 3: Copy the dbc, edt and lnc folder from this download into the folder mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and open the folder named "editor data files".
Step 7: Copy the 30 files in the folder from step 6 into the folder mentioned in step 5.
To check if the file is working, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly.

Probably for the best yes. I will be releasing a new version of this file at some point during the weekend as well, with the updates recommended in this thread and other stuff I could not edit without having the editor.
This was carried over from last year, which was the first version of the game in which the full names of Portuguese teams were not licensed. I simply copied the equivalent names from the FM11 database, hence the SAD.
PTOM88
Just to clarify, a company in Portugal, just like any other country in the World, needs to have a 'Legal Name' which identifies the type of company. The big companies in Portugal are all Sociedades Anónimas (S.A.) which is the equivalent to PLC (Public Limited Company) in the UK. When dealing with Sports the Portuguese Law oblige such companies to add the 'D' (that stand for Desportiva) thus S.A.D.
So basically in Portugal we have the big clubs like Benfica, Porto, Sporting and Braga which are the sports team we deal in FM but you also have Benfica SAD, Porto SAD, Sporting SAD and Braga SAD (among others in Portuguese football) which are the main shareholders of the club itself but are completely separate identities...Thus the correct names should appear with out the SAD on it.
The same happens for those clubs 'B Teams'
Sport Lisboa e Benfica (Benfica)
Futebol Clube do Porto (Porto)
Sporting Clube de Portugal (Sporting)
Btw, I'm Portuguese and Business Graduate so I really know what I'm talking about. The names in FM11 database were a huuuuuge mistake at that time and you can read in any Portuguese Blog related to FM.
Thanks for the great work!

All of the PDL Divisions do not have the short name set, it's still showing as "ADL Whatever Division". It should be, "PDL Whatever Division". Also, it should be "PDL Heartland Division", instead of PDL Hearltand Division (164022).
Competition 72023762 should be
long name: United States Soccer Development Academy
short name: U.S. Soccer Development Academy
3 letter: USD
I don't know if you guys mess with the 3 letter names but there are a couple that should be changed. The NASL (42) 3 letter should be set to NASL. The USL Pro (43) should be set to USL. The PDL (981733) should be set to PDL.

Found out that u need to redo the whole process after this update. :X

cachirro
thanks for your help clarifying this, i always though that the SAD word shouldn't be in there , now i won't be needing to do this on every update, thanks to Mons.
wiseguy100

The media files need a bit of tweaking and would need a new game to be started to take effect but the competition/award names/German national team fix work perfectly fine at the moment and any related changes in any forthcoming update/s will be save-game compatible.
Please re-apply the files from the download link as each game update recreates the files you originaly deleted.
The part in bold refers to the file of that name in the download. Put its contents into Documents \ Sports Interactive \ Football Manager 2013 \ editor data
Yes, but an updated version will be out later this weekend. In the meantime, you can use the current files without any problems.
FAO Uncle Sam, thanks for that, I will rectify the names accordingly
mons
I think it's the second one.

You might want to hold off till later today, at which point I'm hoping to release an updated version of the file...
Tony2512
YES, unfortunately
mons
No, you don't need to start a new game for anything other than the media files. Please don't mis-inform people.

For the German National team I assume you have to wait till the next international callups to see if it is working on a save game?

- would it be possible to get a sponsor-less version of the real names fix? Just 'Premier League' instead of 'Barclays Premier League', just the 'FA Cup' and not 'FA Cup with whateversponsorithasnow'... you get the idea. I suppose I could go through the fix myself, in fact I do, at least for the big leagues, but maybe you have a version like that lying around already.
- a comment in the lnc club fix file says that teams with nicknames have a dbc fix - does this still apply? Why I'm asking - 1.FC Union Berlin ought to have a space after the '1.' part, but it doesn't, and it drives me crazy. Now I could simply fix that in the lnc file, however, they also have a nickname set in the database and according to the above it wouldn't work/would remove the nickname or something.

1) Doing that would rather defeat the point of this file, I feel, for the simple reason that this file is primarily about adding competitions licensed names Anyway, people can edit competition names very easily by opening the lnc files with notepad.
2) The nicknames thing still applies yes, and I've there amended your suggestion for the next update
This is tremendously irritating. It'll be out at some point this weekend, when I feel it's ready. Do you want a half-assed job?
If you applied the file in the middle of a save game, the German national team is populated by real players on the next occasion that players are called up.
