Especially because with Busquets in there you would have a balanced side. Still, I think they'll have problems when their 3 front men all want to play centrally.

I think Chelsea backed out of the race for Shaw after realising how much we were offering him in terms of wages.

Both wages and transfer fee.

You can sign better left-backs from outside of the EPL for half the wages and transfer fee.

These prices are horrific. Other countries must be pissing themselves at players that can't even get into the worst England team for decades going for £30m and £25m.

The Shaw one makes sense from a playing perspective, they could have a good left back for 10 years (they're not going to turn him into a utility player like they did with Phil Jones) but £30m deary me.

And Lallana is a good midfielder with a nice touch, passing range and technical ability overall but £25m? £15m at the very most. Most midfielders you'd see in La Liga possess the same qualities but would go for a fraction of that price.

Disappointed we're spending so much on Lallana. Agree with BR, a good midfielder worth €15 million tops and nothing more. Some of Rodgers purchases can be questioned so hopefully he's right on this one. Would have hoped with CL football that we'd target better players, but the summer is still early.

Reports of £11m for Vermaelen, Utd just throwing money around this summer.

We were always going to. It should have been spread out a bit more if Moyes hadn't dithered all summer last year and then signed Fellaini for no reason.

Anyway, I reckon we want another midfielder, a defender and probably a winger. I don't mind the fee being quoted for Vermalean, but I'd rather we spent it on someone else.

Id love for us to go for Sanchez but he'll probably end up at Liverpool.

If any English team gets Vidal it's going to be depressing.

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Feyenoord for defender Stefan de Vrij, according to reports.

I doubt we'll sign De Vrij, one because he looks worse than Ron Vlaar and thats never a good sign, and two because the source for these rumours are ladbrokes.

We've sold Büttner for about £5.5m, decent deal on our end.

Suarez also due in Barcelona on monday, apparently.

And 3 clubs interested in Alexis are Liverpool, Arsenal, United/Tottenham

Some of Suarez's family live in Barcelona, so it could be anything.

de Vrij rumours don't have any substance really.

Who in their right mind would choose Spurs over Liverpool, Arsenal and United? Even if we were the only club going for him, he still wouldn't join us. I think he'll go to Liverpool, if he does actually leave Barcelona that is.

I'd love it if we went after James Rodríguez.

I know he's only joined Monaco last season and it'd probably cost us a fair bit of coin but he's absolute quality.

He joined them €45m, he's brilliant, but I don't see any club willing to pay what it would take to get him, especially when the likes of Sanchez are potentially available.

Aye, you're probably looking at paying at least €65m if you want him.

Rumours about a week ago that Napoli were kicking the tyres on him though, but after this World Cup he's definitely priced himself out of their range, if he wasn't already.

I doubt Monaco would sell no matter what we offered.

They don't need the money, he's pure quality and they've got the Champions League next season.

Rodriquez didn't actually cost €45m. It was just some fancy financial play to get out of paying Mouthino's old club a load of money

They went for a combined €60m or something like that, right?

Rumours coming from France that we're going to be signing Debuchy. I'd prefer Aurier but wouldn't mind him.

Debuchy will be a great signing.

As I said in the Newcastle thread he's excellent going forward and you have a competent manager who can accomodate attacking full backs without leaving too much space in behind, something Pardew clearly struggles with.

He's not world class defensively but runs all day and will get forward very well. Able replacement for Sagna imo.

In Latin.American press, the rumours says "Falcao" is the one leaving Monaco for R.Madrid. If that happens, there's no way they're selling James!... His last goal against Japan and first against Uruguay was "QUALITY"
