I suggest everybody clicks the "Notify me when updated" button to receive an email when the file is updated/amended in the future.
This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released and when the full game comes out to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in FMT or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2017 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. There are a very small amount of minor club and competition name changes, so it's not essential per se, but it's important that everybody adds the files into the 1712 folder as well
glenn28
Personal preference i guess.
Thanks for the Update.

I copied it from SI's official database entry for the club in the FM16 database tbf, but I guess it looks better your way...
Footygamer
Says it works for a new game but not an existing save
mons
Call me past it, but I never quite worked out how to use Twitter
Can you direct the lad to this thread and maybe to PM me? As I don't think the answer will fit in 140 characters...
Footygamer
Yeah i've already directed him, answer here and he'll see it

As for the first part, I'm not sure exactly what he means. Is he saying that searching for Schalke 04 in-game (for example) will display the correct name in the search bar, but display the wrong one in the club screen? As that doesn't make any sense. If not, feel free to let me know what the issue is (ideally with screenshots) and I'll try to sort it out.
Secondly, as per the opening text and the installation instructions, club names changes will only work in a new game. However, there's a workaround in the first post to enable them, which however sees the club nicknames not being displayed.
Grimnir
He is searching for Ryman Premier but it is showing as Isthmian League Premier.
Footygamer
In the Editor the names aren't changed, has that always been the case? For instance Borussia Mönchengladbach comes up as BMG for all three names.
Is there a way to get the real name fixes working within the editor?
mons
Ah, I didn't realise there was a screenshot as Twitter and loads of image-hosting sites are blocked
I won't be home till late tonight, but if somebody can upload it as an attachment before then, I may be able to comment...
mons
To view the club name changes in the editor, you need to load the Susie Real Name Fixes - Club Name Changes FM17.fmf editor data file.

Hi, @mons this is my issue. The leagues name fix is being recognised by the game because it works in that when I search for a re-named league by it's new name it directs me to it, but the top bar in-game doesn't show the new name, nor in the search screen itself. In player histories, etc it shows the correct name (i.e Ryman Premier, etc)
As @Rob said, it works correctly in a new save, and I'm pretty sure it worked correctly before the 17.1.2 update, and yes I've copied the files into the new update folder, otherwise it wouldn't work at all.
Jubez
Did you delete the old folders before copying the new ones in?
TacticalGenius
Yeah. I've been using this fix for years. It's not like I'm some 'wet behind the ears' casual. Like I said, it KINDA works. And it works properly on a new save, so it's installed correctly.
Jubez
Then I would say that you have not installed it before you started your current save and the changes that you see in a new game are affected by the fmf files, which requires a new game to work. When you start a new game the selected fmf files will be loaded to that database they will remain in that save even if the fmf files are deleted or changed later as those files are not used actively.
menz
Unfortunately I don't have a save before the update as I look to save once every hour or so.
Can someone help? I've dedicated an awful lot of time to this save so really don't want to lose it.
mons
Check your 1700, 1701, 1710 AND 1712 \dbc\permanent folders.
If there are files named Licensing2.dbc and brazil_kits.dbc in any of these folders, then delete them.
In addition to what @Jubez said, I suspect this is an SI bug. Another place where this issue occurs is in the "save game as" section, where competition names are displayed as per the default database names and not as the amended licensed versions. You have also confirmed that you have the usual three lnc files in all four lnc folders (1700, 1701, 1710 and 1712), right?
Hi there, I've moved your post to in here. You need to re-download and re-apply this download. With the release of either the full game or one of the patches, some of the files originally deleted by this download were recreated, which negates this particular part of this download. Happily, this fix is save-game compatible, but will only materialise itself once the German national team calls up new players, and not instantly.
menz
Thanks for getting back to me!
I've tried downloading this fix but it still isn't working? The German national team is still all greyed out. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I followed the instructions exactly.
mons
You should really have read my whole post

I'm afraid you must have. Can you give me a screenshot of (a) any lnc folder of the four mentioned in the installation instructions; and (b) your editor data folder?
P.S. If you quote this post, I get a notification that you have replied and I may be able to answer you a bit quicker
