You need to copy and overwrite the faces and the new config file from the update pack into the faces folder.

It's a known issue with FM26 - read this. We're assuming this issue will get resolved in upcoming official patches/updates.
The new players were added before FM26 was released and didn't have the right UID yet. We've started the process of mapping them to the correct person's UID.
When you have a blank space instead of a cut-out, it means there is a config file pointing to a folder in which an image with that UID is not present. This generally happens when an update pack is installed in a separate folder and not part of the overall faces folder, or there is a rogue config file somewhere. It could also be that you have somehow not downloaded the full megapack but only part of it. Search within the graphics folder for the UID of this person, and you will probably find the secondary image. Delete that folder, and it should be fine.

In line with guidance on the official SI forums, At present, FM26 cannot handle multiple files with the same name. For example, if you have two files with the name "kit.png", it will not load both. and Player Faces: These work fine. You do not need the icon files anymore, and they can cause issues with the note above. Delete them.
As a result, the iconfaces are no longer available for download because they're not needed. You should also delete the iconfaces folder manually from your system too 👍

You need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.

The torrent file includes the base megapack uploaded just before that year’s FM version is released. Any and all subsequent update packs are to be downloaded separately.

Please report this so that they can be reuploaded. Since the files are hosted outside our pages, there isn't much we can do about this unfortunately. You could try downloading the pack via torrent and get it this way.

To speed it up, it is recommended that you have as few programs running as possible so that the system can dedicate as many resources to the extraction as it possibly can.

You might have a poor internet connection or your browser might have some extensions which interrupt this download. Having loads of downloads ongoing and/or streaming may also de-prioritise this download.

Down the years, after an update pack was released, it was noted that some images included therein where of the wrong person, with a wrong extension or duplicated. Due to the way the download system is structured, these cannot be removed from the download, so there may well be a couple of hundred images’ worth of difference, depending on the version you download.
Our megapack covers 25,000 teams and it's impossible to cater for these kind of requests since players and staff get transferred or sacked or retire etc and recreating and reuploading 25,000 different smaller packs would be an impossible task. That's why we have all the images in a megapack so that everything is captured therein.
These persons do not appear in the default database for licensing reasons. This means that they only appear in your save-game because they were added via a custom file, generally the real name fix file. However, this means that their UID (which is what is used to map a person's image to the right individual) is different, and so the game cannot assign the image to them from your existing facepack.
To get them to show, you should individually download any previously available cut-out faces from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

It's a licensing issue. Download this file (or the equivalent for your version of FM) to resolve it.

It shouldn't take that much, but the more applications you have running at the same time, especially if you don't have a powerful system, will see the estimate timeframe for extraction increase a lot...

And it depends on your drive, you'll get better results on ssd sata/nvme than hdd.

Do you have the 12.00 full megapack? Or is it just the update pack? I.e. do you have 250k-odd images or is it 3-4k only?

If you've still got the individual 12.01 - 12.09 update packs, then you can just apply them - no need to redownload them individually

One more question: I actually downloaded the version 5.0, which I believe belongs to FM13. However, I cannot download the updates 5.1 and onwards... will I miss and IDs for not downloading the update versions or should I be okay?

You could download the FM20 torrent if you wanted to, it's just that there will be a very large amount of players who were not in FM08 so you'd have the majority of images being obsolete. If you've downloaded 5.0 to use with FM08, then you can safely assume that the bulk of images in there will work and you won't need to get any updates at all

I have a really poor internet connection, and I'm managing 3MB/s, which I don't think is too bad. Looks like the issue is at your end. Are you downloading something else in the background?
As it's such a large file, the chances of a brief interruption happening naturally increase. If you use Google Chrome, it should be possible to resume the download from the point where it was interrupted, rather than downloading it again from scratch.

I'm on Mac, when extracting the pack, it got to the end then nothing happened

Are you aware the installation folder for Macs had changed? Have a look at the opening post to see the correct place.
Can you try again and take a screenshot beforehand within the unarchiver of the location you're extracting the files to?

You seem to have a multitude of sub-folders in the faces folder unnecessarily, which is certainly taking up a lot of space unnecessarily and which I can have no idea what they contain and how they got there.
This is how they look like on a PC, and what the faces folder should look like on your system:
Move the 16 GB zip file to somewhere outside of that location, delete everything else in the faces folder and try to extract it again.
Also, I can't tell from your screenshot as I don't use a Mac, but from FM20 onwards, there's been a substantial change to how Mac FM documents are stored. Previously the files would automatically go in the Documents folder here:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Documents/Sports Interactive
Now the files will instead appear in the following location:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2020’

I downloaded all the files and did everything as suggested.
But a lot of top class players like, CR7, Messi or Griezmann don't seem to have images.
I cleared the cache and loaded the skin again afterwards. In total I have 75 728 files inside the sortitoutsi folder.
Any advise?

You don't have the full megapack, I'm afraid. You should have over 500,000 files in the sortitoutsi folder, half in the faces folder and the other half in the iconfaces folder.
