Installation Instructions
1. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using Steam on Windows?
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. Although it is for an older version of FM, the steps are still the same. You need to use Winrar (or a similar program) to extract the downloaded file.
This is what the MP folder should look like for the respective version of FM you're using:
Anything beyond the blue line is up to you and how you want to structure your folders.
The preferences should look like in the below screenshot:
To get them to look like this, navigate to your preferences on the welcome screen or by using the drop-down menu near the top right of the menu within your save game.
Choose the advanced tab (the blue square within the screenshot above) and select all from the drop-down menu on the right (the red square within the screenshot above).
Scroll down to the interface section near the middle of the list, where you are to make sure that:
• the “Use caching to decrease page loading times” box is unticked
• the “Reload skin when confirming changes in Preferences” box is ticked
After clicking confirm, it may take a few seconds or minutes for all the graphics to be loaded and you should now see all the graphics you have downloaded appear in your save game.
Once your skin is reloaded, you can re-tick the "Use Caching to Decrease Page Loading Time" button so that the splash screen at the start takes a lot less longer to load. However, the above process needs to be undertaken every time you add graphics to your game to ensure that the game "reads" them.
2. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using a Mac OS?
From FM20 onwards, there's been a substantial change to how Mac FM documents are stored. Previously the files would automatically go in the Documents folder here:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x
Now the files will instead appear in the following location:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 202x -> graphics’ (create the last folder if necessary
Anything beyond this path line is up to you and how you want to structure your folders.

3. I don’t want to have the megapack in the default user data folder – can I place it elsewhere and how would I do so?
You need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.
The above step does not apply if you’re playing on Gamepass, in which case the user data location has to be the default one (i.e. Documents / Sports Interactive / Football Manager 202x)
It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
4. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using Gamepass?
If you're using Gamepass, then you have to use the default user data folder - point 4 above does not and can not apply to you.

Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.
Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.
These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.
Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
The likelihood is that you've put the iconfaces in the faces folder, or used the wrong config file for each folder. As a result, the smaller images (in 25x18) are being upscaled to be displayed in the person's profile, hence the blurring. Re-install the update pack again, making sure you put the contents of each folder in the right place.
Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
To get them to show, you should individually download the cut-out faces that you want from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

Just reloaded it and it's working!!!

It pays to read all the installation instructions 😉
Enjoy!

Never had a problem with faces, kits or logos before, but I just can't get the megapack to work.
Here is what I've done so far:
1. downloaded the megapack via torrent
2. created a players folder inside the graphic folder
3. extracted the sortitoutsi folder inside the players folder (attachment1)
4. unticked "Use caching to decrease page loading time" (attachment2)
5. ticked "reload skin when confirming changes in preferences"
6. restarted the game just in case
no faces to be seen.
So I read the instructions within the rar and noticed:
> My Documents > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 20xx > graphics > sortitoutsi > faces (no players folder)
7. took out the sourtitout from the players folder and put it directly within the graphics folder (attacment3)
8. reloaded the skin (no unticking/ticking since I've already done it in step (4-5)
9. restart the game just in case
no faces to be seen.
notice that my documents folder is on my "D" drive but i've got logos in the same graphics folder working just fine, and the game saves files in the correct document folder so I'm hesitating on following those steps
any suggestion on what I'm doing wrong?
mons
You probably do need to change the user data folder as outlined in your penultimate paragraph. though.
When you say graphics working just fine, can you give a few examples, maybe with screenshots? All English teams from the Championship down have real logos and player faces by default with the game so that might give you the false impression that graphics are working correctly which may not necessarily be the case.
In terms of step 7, it's not really necessary. The game will read the files as long as they're anywhere within the graphics folder.
Finally, do you have a file named config.xml within the faces folder?

Sorry to ask again. Im having the same problem with the facepack on google chrome. However, small packs like the logo still work, i think its an issue with my internet. Is there any way I can access the individual parts of the facepack even with the premium membership because i think i would be able to download each part without my wifi cancelling the download or whatever? Unless you have another solution.
Thanks a lot
Qvordrup
Use chrome to download. Then you can resume interrupted downloads
dvdvdv
I guess it's a problem with the game.
In attachment4 you can see that the logos from the graphics folder work fine.
I'm doing an international management save (France) for the beta. When I look at my players through the squad view non of my world-class players have faces(attacment5).
but when I look at them from their respective club (ex. paris sg -> players -> Mbappe) faces show up (attachment6)
Ben Morrison
Thanks, sorry for the hassle.
mons
I believe Ligue 1 is another licensed league so that's what might be giving you the false impression that the graphics you have downloaded are working correctly which may not necessarily be the case since it's just the SI licensed graphics which are actually showing.
As per the Mbappe face not showing in the national team, that's a licensing issue and can be overcome by installing this file. Remember to re-install it whenever a new official SI update is released as each official patch which recreate the issue resolved when installing this fix.
So, in short, if you want to get your downloaded graphics to display if they're not in the default place (i.e. Documents > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2021 > graphics), then you probably do need to undertake the steps in your previous post to change the user data folder. The method works perfectly fine and I use it on my system too.
Don't know what I can say really 😢 Yesterday I downloaded the 35GB background pack and managed to successfully resume the download in the couple of instances it was interrupted, so the method does work, even for files twice the size. Try downloading in incognito mode, in case there's an extension in your browser which stops you from resuming your downloads.

I have downloaded the entire facepack (great work btw) via torrent, the file was huge!
The problem I have is, because the file is so big, it takes forever to load up FM21 and my computer slows right down when it's on the loading screen so I need to CTRL ALT DEL to get off it.
Is there anyway, I can just get packs for the specific leagues I play?
That way, I will have some control over the size of the patch and not have to worry about things slowing down?
I really appreciate the work you guys do, so thanks.
Ben Morrison
Ive tried the incognito mode and it has stopped once already and i was able to resume it straight away for the first time. Fingers crossed that has made it work. Thanks for the support and patience.
Also, the download speed seems massively quicker!
Qvordrup
The short answer is no.
It is way way to time consuming to sort players by leagues. So it is the full pack or nothing. Unless of course you want to go through the pack and pick out what players/staff you want and then make your own config. But I would recommend accepting some loading time and then just use the full pack 🙂
Matija123
I had the same problem as you, and then i realized that i didn't copied these '--' two bashes, and now it's working , i hope it will be helpful for you (sorry for my English 😀slightly_smiling_face: --user_data_location="G:\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2018"

So I found an initial fix which was deleting the caches and preferences folder, verifying game files on Steam and it worked initially. However, went back on it today and the loading time was about 20 mins and wasn’t working. Don’t really want to do that every time I want to load up FM.
dvdvdv
Thank you mons for your replies, however, my graphic folders work fine and always did since FM2017 without tweaking the save folder path in the steam.
just to double-check I popped out the logo folder from the graphics folder reloaded the skin, and Spanish 1 division logos are gone (attachment7) pop it in again reload the skin and they appear again (attachment8).
also, games save in the correct drive\folder (attachment8).
I think the face pack works fine as well since I see many faces when looking at them from their respective clubs. I think you are correct assuming it as to do with the "licensing-and-real-name-fix" which I didn't do yet.
mons
In addition to what Qvordup said, all of which is on the ball, I find it a bit hard to understand what you mean by taking forever to load up. It does take a little bit longer than normal, but we're only talking 2-3 minutes at most, really, no? Or are you saying it takes you a much longer period of time? Because that shouldn't be the case, unless you have a really old and slow system.
Once it loads the first time, if you then tick the use caching button in the preferences, then it should take a lot less time the next time round.
mons
In your first post you said 'no faces', now you're saying that you 'see many faces'. Am I right in assuming that it's all now working fine?
As the author of the real name fix, I can 100% guarantee it fixes, amongst other things, the issue with French players (and I believe Dutch too) not having their face displayed when viewed from the national team page but seeing them from their club page, if installed correctly, naturally 😉
dvdvdv
Yes, I was playing an international campaign and didn't see any faces through the squad view (still don't... probably because of the licensing fix)... so I assumed the face pack was not working.
then I started another "regular" club campaign and noticed plenty of faces including ones that were missing from the international campaign. i will update about the licensing fix later today (can't play right now) in case of sombody else face the same issue
mons
Like I said, that is a licensing issue which you were unlucky enough to happen to experience directly as a result of managing the France national team, and which you understandably assumed affected every other player in the game. Based on the screenshots you've provided, I'd be extremely surprised if the real name fix didn't sort that out for you 👍

We have a submission forum here where you can upload sources to be converted into cuts.
As an FYI, Marcelo Flores has been done already and will be added in the 13.01 update pack, so there's no need to request him again. For the other guy, it's important to find the best possible source for him. Read this thread on how to do so.

It has faces & iconfaces folders in there with photos in them.
I've tried clearing the cache, unticking the cache loading times box, and ticking the reload skins box - then press reload skin. It comes back quite quickly - but the faces are still not there. Tried restarting a couple of times now Am I doing something obviously wrong?
mons
How many images do you have in the faces folder?
Can we have a screenshot of your in-game preferences too?

Then my question above also applies to you 😕
Expecting us to solve your issues with the pack and providing us with such little info is like expecting a doctor to diagnose you over the telephone; you're not giving him a lot of visual cues so you have to provide him with as much information and detail as possible.

Preferences are fine, but I specifically requested a screenshot of the faces folder for a reason - to see if it's installed correctly and in the right place. Can I have that screenshot please?
