Frequently Asked Questions

If you've never downloaded the pack before, you should just download the larger "complete pack".

If you're not a premium member, it is recommended that you download the base megapack via torrent by going to our cut-out megapack download page. After which, you should then download all the update packs released to date and apply them chronologically.

If you're a premium member, just download the most recent complete pack.

If you already have a version of our Cut-Out Faces Megapack installed, then click "Download Latest Changes" and you'll be presented with a list of all the updates we've released since you've last downloaded a file. Simply download any you might have missed, applying the oldest first and continuing to apply update packs in the chronological order in which they were released.
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. You need to use Winrar (or a similar program) to extract the downloaded file.

Contrary to previous versions of the game, there is no need to change any settings in the preferences in FM26.
You need to copy and overwrite the faces and the new config file from the update pack into the faces folder.

If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.

These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.

It's a known issue with FM26 - read this. We're assuming this issue will get resolved in upcoming official patches/updates.
The new players were added before FM26 was released and didn't have the right UID yet. We've started the process of mapping them to the correct person's UID.
When you have a blank space instead of a cut-out, it means there is a config file pointing to a folder in which an image with that UID is not present. This generally happens when an update pack is installed in a separate folder and not part of the overall faces folder, or there is a rogue config file somewhere. It could also be that you have somehow not downloaded the full megapack but only part of it. Search within the graphics folder for the UID of this person, and you will probably find the secondary image. Delete that folder, and it should be fine.

Otherwise, follow the steps in this comment and post the results so that we can assist you.
In line with guidance on the official SI forums, At present, FM26 cannot handle multiple files with the same name. For example, if you have two files with the name "kit.png", it will not load both. and Player Faces: These work fine. You do not need the icon files anymore, and they can cause issues with the note above. Delete them.

As a result, the iconfaces are no longer available for download because they're not needed. You should also delete the iconfaces folder manually from your system too 👍
You need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.

It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
The torrent file includes the base megapack uploaded just before that year’s FM version is released. Any and all subsequent update packs are to be downloaded separately.
For those who have never used torrents, in the vast majority of cases, it's just a question of downloading the client program (a small file, less than 1MB) and then downloading the megapack torrent file (a tiny file, around 20k) and then letting the program do the job.

Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.

Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
Please report this so that they can be reuploaded. Since the files are hosted outside our pages, there isn't much we can do about this unfortunately. You could try downloading the pack via torrent and get it this way.
Extracting the file will take a while, but it shouldn't take the hours and hours that the program extracting will sometimes say it will. To speed it up, it is recommended that you have as few programs running as possible so that the system can dedicate as many resources to the extraction as it possibly can.

Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
You might have a poor internet connection or your browser might have some extensions which interrupt this download. Having loads of downloads ongoing and/or streaming may also de-prioritise this download.

Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
The most recent update pack will include the most recent config file, so you can choose to download it and use it from there.

Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
Down the years, after an update pack was released, it was noted that some images included therein where of the wrong person, with a wrong extension or duplicated. Due to the way the download system is structured, these cannot be removed from the download, so there may well be a couple of hundred images’ worth of difference, depending on the version you download.
Our megapack covers 25,000 teams and it's impossible to cater for these kind of requests since players and staff get transferred or sacked or retire etc and recreating and reuploading 25,000 different smaller packs would be an impossible task. That's why we have all the images in a megapack so that everything is captured therein.
These persons do not appear in the default database for licensing reasons. This means that they only appear in your save-game because they were added via a custom file, generally the real name fix file. However, this means that their UID (which is what is used to map a person's image to the right individual) is different, and so the game cannot assign the image to them from your existing facepack.

To get them to show, you should individually download any previously available cut-out faces from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

I've checked the 5.6 link with two different browsers & both worked fine for me. You're not using an old version of Internet Explorer are you? I used to myself but found I was having problems with downloads at this site (& many others). Also I'm assuming you have enough free space on your hard drive for the complete megapack?

Hi,

Sorry if this has been covered but I've downloaded 5.06. I go to unzip it with both Winrar and 7Zip and get the message "Unexpected End Of Archive" and I only get 110108 files.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

What is the total size of the file you've downloaded? Its should be 5.76GB - if it's not, then the download somehow got truncated and you'll have to re-download it...

Hopefully that's the problem. Noticed it said it was 4.8GB. Sigh!

Re-downloading now!

I'm not sure, but can't windows only read 50k files in one folder? Should the whole megapacks be separated in more folders, in one of which can be max this amount of files?

As long as your filesystem is NTFS you can have any number of files in one folder without having any problems. If your filesystem is FAT32 then it probably won't work with 125,000 files in one folder....however who still uses a FAT32 filesystem?

According to your description, you should have the images showing in your game.

If you could answer these two questions, I might be in a better position to help you.

a) Could you upload a screenshot of your MP folder? Showing clearly the folder path so I can check that it is actually in the correct place. You'd be amazed how many people think it's placed correctly when it isn't
b) When you say you edited the interface section, exactly which tickboxes are ticked and which aren't?

Hopefully you can let me know the answers so I can try to solve your issue

Hi, I can't replace an old face with a newer cut out for Neymar and only Neymar, any reason why or any ways to solve this would be much appreciated?

When you say you can't replace it, what do you mean - what happens to prevent you from doing so?

Is the Use skin cache button unticked in-game?

Yes every other face works and can be replaced with a newer image, however for some reason when i try to update neymar's face cut out it copies successfully in the megapack then in game it only shows his old image. I've tried reloading the skin and the skin cache is unticked.

Have you checked your megapack folder to see which cut-out of Neymar is in it? If both cut-outs are in it then delete the old one & make sure the new one has the correct ID (ie it doesn't the word copy at the end or something similar). Neymar wasn't cut by SI so there's no way his old cut-out should show if it's no longer in your megapack folder.

So is there any solution for this? I've tried lots of different images for Neymar and even though the old cut out is deleted it still shows even if I reload the skin.

It looks like you may have another facepack installed somewhere. It might be worth doing a search, using Neymars UID (19024412), in your Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2013 folders to see if there are any conflicting images/config files.

Well what you are saying is happening is basically impossible so there probably is no solution for it. Can you post screenshots of the following please.
1. Your megapack folder showing the cut-out of Neymar.
2. A screenshot of his in game profile/cut-out
3. A screenshot of your FM2013 Preferences Interface screen showing the 'Skin' options you have ticked.
That way we can be certain there is no reason why you are getting this problem.

As a last resort you could try deleting your new cut-out of Neymar from your megapack folder (keep a copy elsewhere) & see if his cut-out disappears from the game (if you do this whilst the game is running it should just leave a blank space, no cut-out or silhouette, where the cut-out was. If that works then close the game, re-add the cut-out, restart the game (re-do the preferences stuff) & hopefully the new cut-out will then show.

I really don't want to ask, but can someone please assist?

I'm using FM2013 and have downloaded the facepack from this site "Cut out player faces megapack" "complete pack - 5.0" using the torrent .

I've unzipped the folder into C:\Users\me\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2013\graphics

unticked use caching, and ticked reload skin..... but nothing!

Any thoughts?

Nothing wrong with asking for help

How many images in all do you have in your megapack folder? Do you have a file named config.xml in there too?

Good to know there is help at hand

I've got 125911 images in total. There are also two additional folders inside the main "faces" folder, one containing 1322, and a second with 8031 in.

There's a config file in the main "faces" folder, but only one of the sub-folders has one in.

Might it be worth relocating the two sub-folders and trying with just the main "faces" folder?

Cheers

Place it on an external hard disk and change the user date file within the in-game preferences to point to it...

Or buy a bigger hard-disk, 64GB's hardly enough for anything these days.

I have 2 x 3TB drives in the PC as well so space is not an issue just on C :-)
