how would I remove the player/staff pics from displaying? Can you remove the blacked out head thats present when there isn't a pic also?

I have tried unarchiving panels.fmf and setting the following line:

<!-- profile picture -->
<widget class="client_object_profile_picture" id="prop" scale_picture="true" keep_aspect_ratio="true" image_alignment="centre">
<attachment class="test_setting_attachment" get_setting="show_portraits" default_value="false" set_property="hidn">

But this didn't work for me, any ideas?

Download this file and place it in Documents > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 201x > graphics. From within the downloaded file, remove the actual images from the folders, just keep the config file. This should ensure that an empty space is displayed for those real players who don't have a default image.

If you want to remove the player images that come with the game as well, use the resource archiver to extract the default SI images and place them in a sub-folder within the folder mentioned in the above paragraph, then remove the actual images from the various folders and leavie just the config file in each folder.

This should ensure every person in the game has an empty space where their pic should be.

Awesome, thanks for that mons.

I had to wipe my HD and who would have known super fast broadband could be so slow re-downloading FM, I'll try this out later on.

Cheers again

Hey me again,

I found and extracted all the player pics, went through each sub-folder and deleted the images leaving the config files and structure intact..

Now I have been playing FM since it was CM way back since 95, and have been using the great graphics froths site and others pretty much since it allowed for it to be used.

So I know about unticking "use skin cache" and reload skin on confirm..

But this hasn't worked, you could probably guess that by now, are there some new tricks you have to do with this years edition?

default blacked out faces and the pre-existing packed faces still showing despite your advice, now I am not saying what you said is wrong, as I'm actually pretty sure its spot on, but I have no idea whats causing it to fail.

Any help is much appreciated

I'll admit to never having tried the procedure above but it should work given past experience

Can you confirm the path used to place all these folders in? And also perhaps one of a random extracted folder?

Actually, I was having a conversation earlier on a similar topic and the file creator in that case pointed out the occasional necessity for a file to be placed in the exact location it contained with the graphics.fmf.

Since you have managed to extract the player pics already, I am assuming you are somewhat conversant or at least have a decent idea with how to operate the resource archiver. Have a look at what exactly the path for both the default blank image and for the SI cut-outs is within the graphics.fmf and make sure they are contained in the same folder structure within Docs > SI > FM15 > graphics.

I believe that should work. I hope

Hey mons,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I placed the files (configs) in their original sub-directories, copied straight over from what I extracted. So, in my docs they are in the FM folder then Graphics.

Here is the structure of the extracted folders:

graphics-
pictures-
players-
small & normal

The only directory missing is "data" but surely thats not required? I mean Im placing these in My Docs.

Anyway I found an alternative way of accomplishing this. Albeit a time consuming ridiculous way.

If (using the structure above) I open each individual .png and simply erase the players face, (leaving the transparent background) it will work in game as a replacement image.

Now... you might have guessed, but I don't really want to do this.. no.. far too lazy..

Hmm, can I still have a look at your current folders perchance? Maybe I can spot something "wrong" and save you all that hassle...

Sure, thanks..

Don't mean to sound dense, but do you just mean like a screenshot or something?

Yeah, a screenshot is fine

Not just the contents, I'd like to the see the whole folder path as well if possible.

Oh, and make sure there are no capital letters in any of the folder names from graphics onwards.

Everything seems fine with regards to folder structure.

Can you confirm that
a) each team's folder contains only the config file and no images, and
b) the preferences are set up in the correct way?

I'd appreciate a screenie of (a) and of how any player within that folder is displayed in the game.

I'm clutching at straws tbh

a) Folder...

b) Preferrences...

I never had any issues with FM14 and I was playing that on a Mac, but before that it was PC all the way, maybe its to do with OS X?

I also cannot get the Data Editor files to show up when loading the Data Editor from the real names fix here on Sortitoutsi.. I mean the German national team fix works but the media names etc, don't..

They are .dbc files, where as the saved data file I make when using the Editor is an .fmf

Sorry that was off topic and I'll have to start paying you for tech support if I keep on adding issues. But as you can see from the above, the file structure is ok, there are no .png's in the folders, just the config and I have taken the required steps in the in-game prefs.

Now I know this is gonna sound fussy, but Im not sure about the empty space left when using a blank .png, are there any resources on creating Skins for FM15? I couldn't see any when I browsed the forums (but then I wasn't looking all that hard), I will take another look.

Ive got my free trial of the latest Photoshop, so might have a bash at making my own skin to solve my problems.

Everything looks completely in order, so I'm absolutely mystified. I don't think being on a Mac makes any difference whatsoever, but then again, I don't know I'd suggest posting on the official forums in the Skinning Hideout - perhaps the mods over there have come across the issue and can help you out.

Given that I'm the author of the real names file, I'm more than happy to help, but we can take it via PM if you feel better. Regarding the dbc files, you have to import them rather than load them. The main reason I use dbc format is that allows me to split the file in sub-folders, whereas fmf files will only work if they are placed in the main editor data folder. But, given that I have tweaked most if not all of the real names fix editor data files in anticipation of the release of v2.0 once 15.3 is released, I'd suggest you hold off editing them till then.
