I suggest everybody clicks the "Notify me when updated" button to receive an email when the file is updated/amended in the future.
This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2016 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 26 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM16.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install this version of this file
Step 1: Go to
PC
Slightly more detail in this post
Linux
Android:
Step 2: Delete the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the path above
Step 3: Copy the dbc, edt and lnc folder from this download into the folders mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and select the folder named "FM16 Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net v2.1".
Step 7: Paste the circled folder directly into the folder mentioned in step 5.
Take care to remove any previous versions of this file
Step 8: This should be what your editor data folder looks like. There may also be a config.xml file in this folder and can be safely retained; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. Club names (including the German ones) are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.
Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, may not apply in FMC. There's a workaround for that in the first post.

Erm, it's included in the editor data file already. Are you sure you have installed this download correctly?

Because your files deal with team names i thought it might be the error but if isn't nothing to deal with your files can you at least explain me how to fix the colors and name of the team? Thx

I suspect that there is a mistake in either the pr0 files and/or the South American leagues. To change the kit colour and the club name, just open the pre-game editor, load each editor data file and check which of the files contains the errors - and amend them accordingly.
Hope this helps.

I will try it. Thank you man!

mons
It's a feature this year, confirmed by SI, that continental competitions are to have the same colours as the continent page
Thanks for these, very much appreciated, and added to my files
kurovski
This error is actually because of a very small update released this week. It is a file called "Licensing.dbc" on the dbc folder.
Removing this file corrects the problem.
mons
kurovski
It was smaller than 1mb, and that file seems to be the only change.
Some one said in another forum that it could be because Konami has the rights to use Flamengo, so they changed name and kits in FM to avoid problems.
mons
Lars
But it's not working this year with FM2016.
I have done the installation of the fix-files as recommended.
mons
As far as I'm aware, there's nothing different from previous years in terms of short names. So what worked last year should work this year...
Lars
In other words, by using above, you can control all SHORT and LONG NAMES by yourself - adding lines (teams) to the fix-file or changing the names within the fix-file, with notepad or text-edit (MAC) ?
Gia Nguyen
finalthrd
mons
Yes, that is indeed the case. The only exception is for those teams who already have an edited entry in the dbc file. In these cases, the editor data change takes precedence over any lnc changes...
Are you running a pirated version of FM16?
mons
I am therefore releasing a new version of this download to counter this. Previous versions of this file needed to only delete the edt and lnc folders, whereas this file will also necessitate deleting the current dbc folder, to be replaced with the one in this file.
Palo90
mons, the new version will work with my current game or i have to start a new one?
mons
Yes it will. To be honest, the major difference is the fix for Flamengo, which solves this issue, created in the very small patch released by SI last week.
If you started a new game in the past week, then this file will not solve this issue, and the only way to do so would be by using a save-game editor.
Otherwise, the only way it will affect your save-game is that a small handful of competition names will be updated.
Hope this helps
Palo90
thanks for your answer

So, I just figured out why it didn't work it's because I didn't save the folder in the editor folder didn't think I needed it, wroks now, So big thanks for your work.
I know this isn't the thread to put it but thought I would say as you're a staff member something has gone wrong with images in the data update the images are no longer saved as ID's instead it's untitled. Thought I would mention it.
mons
Thanks for that. Can you link me to a post or a thread in which things are not displaying correctly, so that I can post it directly in our staff forum?
