i feel like chucking the towel in with fm16, its just too hard when it comes to tactics, it feels like you have to get your tactics absolutely spot on perfect every single game just to stand half a chance. even when you feel like you did everything in your power your players will miss an absolute hatful of chances, my team is going through a run at the moment where they just cant put the ball in the net no matter how good the chance is and the ai opponents are lethal with every single chance they get. i just lost having had 25 shots at goal, and my opponents only had 4 shots. absolute bang average players turn into world beaters when they come up against my team, it seems like player quality is almost irrelevant now and its all down to tactics. it seems almost impossible to get results away from home, set up to be defensive and counter and 9 times out of ten its a 0-0 or a 1-0 loss, try to be more attacking and your defence gets wrecked, i don't know what to do anymore.

just go back to basics. play with no team instructions or player instructions.

what do you do away from home? it seems impossible to get the balance right between attacking and defending, i can set up my defence to be solid but then i end up drawing or losing...

It's all random anyway mate ,what you do or don't do means little ,thats why we all end up cheating a bit to even the score .It's like being addicted to really cheap nasty heroin .FM is shit but you will be back because you are addicted despite all the endless faults and the company know this .So do what everybody else does ,go to Barca ,Steal 40 mil from Chelsea ,buy Jesus and his minions and reload when Messi ruptures his cruciate after two games .Then you can come back on here and boast about how you did the treble after season 3 like you deserve a medal .

just look at this shit, how do i lose this, my opponents somehow manage to score 2 goals with 0 clear cut chances, the game hates me i swear there has to be some scripting going on with this game, it cannot be down to luck when this keeps happening all the time...

I just recently started playing FM 2016 after a 2 year break and I gotta say it's way way harder than it was when I was playing 2011, 2012, 2013... I can see the effects on my players when I change tactics but no matter who I'm playing against there's no difference. They always intercept my attacks and find a way around my defense WAY too easily.

I tell you what you people, but DONT GIVE UP!

I've had the same feeling! the game has fucked me over many, many times but I persevere. This version isn't the greatest but I just look to the best players and REJOICE!!!

There is NO killer tactic! but we just look to your best players and stick to them and rejoice in the in their best attributes!

your right, the difficulty really seems to have been cranked up in fm16. even when you have a good tactic that works well it is not enough, the game just wants to screw you over at every turn it seems.

I feel the game adapts, as it should when you play a tactic consistently. So you have to adapt yourself. Don't give players to many instructions, build it up over time. It will work.

well at least i am not alone in feeling this way, i am probably going to get sacked as united manager, i will just have to have a hard look at things and see where i can do better. i have never had such a hard time with previous fm games, fm16 has been a nightmare so far...

I am doggedly sticking to a 4-2-3-1 tactic. its so unpredictable but it suits my squad. 4-4-2 seems to be working again now this patch which is rather frustrating...

i know exactly how you feel, i also manage united and i literally cannot win away in the prem, i will smash most teams at home, but i seriously cannot win away.

I've had struggles, and found the best thing to do is really really use your Assistant Manager. On the team selection page, click the shiny new match tactics advice button (near top right on the standard skin), and, assuming your AM has a decent tactics rating, do everything he says. I usually use control at home, counter away, but always what the AM suggests. Then, during the match, always follow AM advice during the game, regarding closing down, changing passing style, tempo. etc. The only time I ignore is when it says "We are being seriously overrun in midfield" because it ALWAYS says that if the opposition has more midfielders than you.

If you're playing as Man Utd, ditch Giggs, he is terrible as 1st team AM. Promote Butt to 1st team AM, and utilise his tactics at all times.

thanks for that advice, i do always sack giggs and bring in a replacement. i have never really used my assistants advice on a match day i admit, i will see if that helps...

The difficulty does seem to have been increased in FM16, but it's a good thing really. It does get boring expecting to win everything every year.

With Arsenal, I came 2nd in my first season (Spurs 1st 9 points clear) and I've just finished 6th in my second season (Spurs again ran away with it!).

No team is an expected victory which can only be a good thing, it means you actually have to PLAY the game rather than leaving it to run almost in the background as it used to be.

The difficulty makes it even more addictive.
