Big defeat against Hartlepool, this one nil loss pushes us back to eighth and now in danger of missing out on the playoffs, we need to beat Exeter on the final day.

Well what a strange game, it was dead first half, we pushed on more, knowing we had to win and eventually Grant gave us the lead twenty eight minutes from time. We conceded just five minutes later and the game seemed gone then. But then, ninety first minute McGregor swung the game our way and a minute later Grant had his second and our third, we done our part, now needed Scunthorpe to lose.

And they did, Scunthorpe finished with ten men against Mansfield and lost, we move into the playoff spot and will face Accrington in the Semi Final over two legs, boy that was close.

Remember the name! James Hood! A superb brace in the Second Leg, Semi Final, sees us head to the Final, winning three nil against Accrington. Walsh got us off to a flyer just four minutes in. That Hood netted two minutes before the break and two minutes before the final whistle setting us up a Playoff Final game with Burton.

The good news is, we've beat Burton in both head to head games this season, winning 1-0 at home and 4-2 away from home.

We're there! We've done it and its been sensational!! Hood gave us a second half lead which was quickly leveled by Burton and it ended one all after ninety minutes. Into extra time and it was still all square and so it went to penalties! Which we prevailed at, winning 5-3 as Hood, who else, scored the winning final penalty for us. Promotion is ours, not a tidy season, but we done it.

Deserved, superb season for this young man, just twenty two years old, on loan from Cardiff and he had a superb season for us.

We are yet to sign a new deal, I've been in two minds whether to or not, I'm not one hundred percent sure its the right place to stay. however they are paying for our next coaching qualifcation.

Our first signing of the season has seen English left back Josh Stanchini join the club on a free transfer following his release from Exeter City in which he only played three times last season for the Grecians. He doesn't look the greatest full back in the world but he should do a job for us.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/yfad10huoddodyi2OFyNrPtsKOArsAteSTjg1aTp.jpg

A second signing was also made as Alex Maxted joined the club on a season long loan deal from Championship side Leeds and I'm expecting him to do well during his loan spell.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/ztkBTuOc2WU4WGBlhRfgREUXGnzFb9tliTnxejCn.jpg

And a third signing has been made in the space of a day as left winger Jon Grant has signed on a free transfer following his release from Brentford in which he didn't make a single appearance for the Bees - but he did have loan spells at Cowdenbeath and Preston in the last two seasons, ironically we were the manager in both teams. Made 37 appearances for us last season, he should be a regular again.

More signing are to be expected as our squad is still really tiny . . .

Really needed to sign a new 'keeper and I struggled to find one, Martin Hill arrives on a season loan from Chelsea.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/BLPEEs4WKuadYToX3W2KLCOkOir0O3Z7FAETXBKC.jpg

Yes, it's another season long loan signing as Stephen Mahon comes from Derby County.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/DfYphEigksGBHVGQwDIqWEyiLRBhxqppVsdE2M7A.jpg

This is a desperation signing, Jack Johnston was released by Lincoln in the summer, we've zero out and out strikers on the books currently.

https://sortitoutsi.net/uploads/mirrored_images/hvhI8zijRYm5FISBFmETCR3Kir2cJiZSG2EpzLx6.jpg

We've finally found a striker and whether he'll end up being first choice remains to be seen, Jack Payne has arrived at Deepdale on a (surprise, surprise) loan deal until the end of the season from Cardiff.

You wait what feels an eternity to sign a striker and a third arrives in a short space of time as Tom Hopper has joined from Peterborough United. No, it's not a loan deal, he's cost us £125k from the Championship side and I'd hoping he'll be a regular goalscorer for us. Tried to bring back James Hood but he chose to join Hull on a permanent deal.

Or maybe it's not the end of the signings as Jake Foster-Caskey arrives from Chesterfield for fifty grand. We were lacking for back-ups in the central midfield position so I found this signing essential - yes, he may not look the greatest but truth be told, I doubt he'll be a regular in the central midfield position.

I'm in a similar position to you guys in my save (with Grimsby), just got into League 1. I got torn apart on the first day too (5-1), so keep battling! Lots of loan signings (it seems?) for you guys, hope they're good enough!

What formation are you playing at the moment?

We would have left Preston for the sake of progressing in this challenge but unfortunately their was no jobs out there which would've been us progress or had no chance in getting (e.g. Chelsea). Yeah we've needed to make loan signings (which I normally don't like) because their wasn't much 'talent' out there on a permanent basis. I'm not 100% on the 'keeper but we'll give him a chance. Of course we could still end up leaving Preston.

I'm playing a 4231 formation, think Dan has been using the same formation but not sure.

When you lose the opening game of the season 6-0 to a team that's predicted to finish in 21st position (six places below yourselves) then you know you're in for a long, long season. It was a tough choice to step down but I feel it's for the best and I'm hoping I can get employment quite quickly. Hope I don't regret stepping down.

You've got to be kidding me! Seems only @Dan can be successful in interviews. Yes, I've failed to get a job at a League of Ireland relegation candidate as U.C.D decide they didn't want 'Dean Ashton' as their next manager. It seems when Dan takes charge again on October 1st, we're going to be unemployed still and that's a shame.

Nah, scrap that. I've actually passed one interview since we started this and that's when I applied for the Lincoln job but delayed it.

We're back in football management bitches! February 6th 2023 is the date when Scottish Premiership's basement club Inverness Caledonian Thistle offered us a chance to get back into management almost six months after leaving English League One side Preston and it's been a 'long' six months. The board expect us to avoid automatic relegation, but I hope we do get automatically relegated as I'd be confident in wrapping up a League and Challenge Cup double next season but we'll see what happens.

The team had four foreign players (two on loan) and they've been relegated into the U20's and won't be near the first team again. Bar one player from Republic of Ireland, Caley Thistle have a strong core of Scottish players which'll help us during our time at the Caledonian Stadium.

Couldn't have asked for a tougher first game in charge as we faced leaders Celtic at the Caledonian Stadium and we lost the contest 1-0. We could probably take a little credit from the game as the Celts only scored because Kevin McHattie make a mistake. Onwards and upwards, it's 15 games without a win now for the Caley Jags.

A rare occasion on this save, a Shedender win as we beat second placed Aberdeen 2-1 at the Caledonian Stadium as Kevin McHattie and Daniel Armstrong found the net, cancelling out Jason Cummings opener for the Dons after only seven minutes. This win was Inverness' first league win(?) in sixteen games.

I'm delighted to announce that the Inverness chairman is allowing us to go on our final coaching course which'll see us get the Continental Pro Licence, which we're both delighted with as that should help us finally progress in this career and get whatever job we want, all being well. It's going to cost us six grand for the course and take approx. twelve months to complete.

We are now thirteen points from safety following this heavy defeat away to relegation rivals Partick Thistle at Firhill in which Sean Naismith tore us apart as he bagged four goals while Peter Hutton scored the other for the Jags. Stuart Evans' goal on seventy seven minutes was nothing but a consolation goal.

So that's my spell done and dusted with Inverness Caledonian Thistle and we remain bottom of the table and thirteen points adrift of safety so it's up to Dan to get us relegated to the Championship (and hopefully we don't get the chop in the process). I've won two games throughout my spell, which I'm surprised with - beat Aberdeen and Falkirk at home and bar the Partick game, we were never battered.

After we were sacked, I applied for plenty of jobs, Arsenal, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester from the Premier League along with a few other clubs. Eventually found one in St Johnston, who were relegated along with inverness this season from the Premiership, so we're heading to the Scottish Championship again.
