I have come across an issue in FM19 where there is already a licensed kit in place (especially prevalent in the Scottish leagues), but I want to replace it with a custom one I have designed using photoshop. How is this done. I have changed the config file to reflect the new kits in my graphics folder within the sports interactive folder tree in documents, but it doesn't seem to make a difference, it just defaults to the original licensed kit,
Do you need to extract the graphics.fmf file alter it in there then zip it back up and overwrite the original graphics.fmf?

Also has anyone come out with updated FC templates for the 2D kits with this years patterns?

@Mr Keith Searle I suggest you ask in this forum. I've moved the thread there for you

In general, if installed correctly, custom graphics overwrite SI's graphics, and I can't see why this shouldn't be the case for 3D kits. Can you upload your custom files? Maybe there's something wrong there?

Before extracting graphics.fmf you should try to edit your config in this way:

<record from="yourteamname_1.png" to="graphics/pictures/team/yourteamid/kit_textures/home/2018"/>

Add this line to your config for all your kits with the year at the end. Try first to add these lines to your config (not overwrite your original lines) and if it not work, try to replace them.

As alternative you could use pre game editor or in-game editor to edit kits. You should just duplicate the shirt and add year 2018 to duplicate shirt.
Hope this could help you.

Thanks I figured it out in the end, you can't just lump all kits into one folder and config file. Config File wasn't the issue.
I followed the same structure as the extracted graphics.fmf and it seems to work fine now:

Documents\Sports interactive\ Football Mananger 2019\Graphics\Pictures\Kits\3D\eng
Documents\Sports interactive\ Football Mananger 2019\Graphics\Pictures\Kits\3D\sco
or whichever country you need. It apparently requires a seperate config file for each country.

Workds the same for 2D as well.

It actually requires separate config for each FOLDER. You can bump all the kits you want in one folder, country doesn't matter. But you always must add lines in local config file.

The way I install custom kits (like fantasy kits for my club for future season) is that pick any folder with custom 3D kit pack that I installed before and put my new kits in there.
Then I change the config in that folder just by adding new lines for my club. I copy the lines above and change it to include name of my kit and ID of my club.
And finally clear cache and reload skin.

The common mistakes that result in kits not visible is typo error in config, ignoring upper case letters where should be lower case; editing kits with ingame editor and forgetting to thick "show licenced kits" afterwards; forgetting to clear cache and reload skin
