RIP to those that died yesterday, never spoke to any of them but apparently both were very large and loyal characters on the away days.

Much respect to the Sunderland fans who have raised over £750 so far for their own tribute.

Sunderland fans have raised a huge amount of money now, something like 6-7 grand.

Superb.

Apparently those Newcastle fans even went to most of the reserve and academy games as well as the first team games. Serious dedication.

To think today is 5 years since Bobby Robson died. Madness how quick that time has gone.

Signing Jack Colback has been worth it, for the pure outrage it has caused from Sunderland fans. Do they really believe what they are saying?

What's been said?

Apparently we're trying to offload Steven Taylor and bring in a established centre back? Along with another striker. Can safely say if we do that it'll have been one of the better transfer windows of my life time.

They never wanted him, and they are glad to see him go, and they have moved on to better things with Jack Rodwell*. Colback is also only at Newcastle for the money (£50kpw). He's also getting booed in pre-season and they all have a few 'mag mates' who reckon he's shite and only pass the ball sideways.

They are also in meltdown, that the Chronicle said Newcastle turned down Jack Rodwell. Of course Newcastle did, as will have every Premier League club.

A fee that could rise to £15 million has also been agreed for Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, but the player is still in need of convincing that a season outside the Champions League will not be damaging to his career.

Hmmm - The Independent. (Article however neglects to mention that Janmaat has signed, in list of transfers.)

Independent are normally very reliable on Newcastle stories, tbf.

I don't know how I can cope with the knowledge Steve Stone's friends and family no longer receive complimentary tickets. I used to be safe in the knowledge that these people who serve absolutely no tangible benefit to Newcastle get tickets for free, which I have to pay for. #PardewOut.

Meanwhile Caulkin of the Times, is complaining about Newcastle restricting access to outlets willing to pay, kind of like a paywall. And Bird (Mirror) is moaning while the fucking Mirror prints news stories like "5 FIFA15 features that are AMAZING".

Who the fuck cares about any of this?

Just wish we'd sign a recognised goalscorer to replace Remy is all I care about.

Risk of ruining a great summer signing loads of creative players without actually signing anyone to score the goals.

Whats the thoughts on Siem De Jong and Janmaat? Will both be regular starters? De Jong just behind the front man was very effective for Ajax but has been shown a good goal scoring record in Holland doesn't mean success in England.

Janmaat will definitely be starting. - And looked very good against Sociedad.

De Jong has been given vice captaincy and will definitely start the season. Probably as an AM in a 4-4-1-1, but it's unclear how he and Cabella will both fit in the same team.

Will be interesting to see how Janmaat replaces Debuchy, Janmaats meant to have scored quite a few long range efforts in the past.

I think Newcastle have a good squad and could have a very good season.

We have a good first team, not sure about good squad.

Janmaat and De Jong will both start I would have thought, Cabella will be pushed out to LM in Pardew's favourite 4-4-1-1 to accommodate De Jong I would have thought

I think Newcastle looked okay today, and if they'd gotten a draw it wouldn't have been too unfair on City. Sissoko looked good, Colback was better than I thought he would be. The downsides were Janmaat not picking up his man and letting Silva score, and Riviere being anonymous and looking more like Guivarc'h than Rémy. Hopefully they'll do better next match, and with de Jong yet to come in, Newcastle should go to Villa expecting to win.

EDIT: Also, the black panel at the top of the chest on the new shirts looks wrong, and the shirts are too tight - it makes some of the players look like they have boobs.

Thought Riviere played well. He put himself about well, had good build up play and caused problems.

Hopefully he will add a goal threat when he plays against the weaker teams. And I suppose once he and the rest of the attack gets used to each other.

Colback loves a tackle, big fan of him so far. Cabella looked good in spells yesterday but actually lost the ball a fair bit. MOTD didn't show him rinsing Kompany either

Aguero was a joke when he came on, in that brief spell he terrified our defenders and won them the game. Had Ayoze scored I think we could have been sat here today celebrating a win, if not the obvious point.

Onwards and upwards, a similar performance vs Villa (with a little bit more urgency up top) and I think we'll have 3 points

Colback was great, as was Anita - was worried about them two going up against Yaya Toure and Fernando but they were probably the better pair of the two.

2-0 flattered City but I suppose if we had all the money in the world and could sub off Dzeko and bring on Aguero instead of Obertan we'd beat most teams too.

Still think we need a centre back, and I can't for the life of me see what Pardew sees in Paul Dummett.

Haidara was absolutely awful against Sociedad.

Thought he did well against Man City, can't remember him doing anything wrong.

The amount of attacks he broke down by not having an ounce of technical ability was outstanding.

Can't use his right foot to control the ball or pass the ball, meaning he got tackled at every opportunity.

Haidara, when he's played competitively has been streets ahead of Dummett.

I'm hoping that a deal will be worked out for Micah Richards, I think he would add a lot to the Newcastle defence, and could be used at centre-back if necessary.

Loads of Newcastle fans seem desperate to get rid of Steven Taylor (lacks concentration, injury prone, hasn't developed) and replace him with Micah Richards, in potentially the most grass is always greener signing of all time.
