This file will need to be re-applied if/when patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.
The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 15 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed. It will also fix the fact that the German National team doesn't call up real players. These are fully save-game compatible.
There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for German, Italian and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, with 26 media files added to encompass all major footballing nations and continents. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all these files to work, however, you will need to start a new game.
Magrippinho very helpfully created a YouTube video on how this file should be installed. Some of the contents are different - but the procedure is identical, although of course you use the equivalent folder for FM15.
Or, you can follow the below instructions to install v2.0 of this file (if you are installing a previous version please use the 1500 folder instead of the 1530 folder:
Step 1: Go to
PC
Slightly more detail in this post
Linux
Step 2: Delete the edt and lnc folders from the folder above
Step 3: Copy the edt and lnc folder from this download into the folder mentioned in step 1.
Step 4: Go to:
Step 6: Keeping the folder in step 5 open, go back to the file you downloaded and select the folder named "FM15 Real Names Fix Files from sortitoutsi.net v2.0".
Step 7: Paste the circled folder directly into the folder mentioned in step 5.
Step 8: This should be what your editor data folder looks like. There may also be a config.xml file in this folder and can be safely retained; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.
To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, German national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not instantly. Club names (including the German ones) are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

Yes, I've changed some club names between the " " in the "City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc" file. It's strange because some work and others don't...
mons
If a club name change has already been done using an editor data file, then changes in the lnc file will be ignored. That's probably why some are working and others aren't.

Ive followed the instructions to the letter. I have even uninstalled, deleted every folder on my pc labelled "Football Manager 2015", rebooted, reinstalled, attempted to apply the update and then started a new game.
However, I've noticed that on your screenshots at the top of this page, the Bundesliga is showing the default names ie Dortmund not Borussia Dortmund. This is both from the league overview screen and when you go into the team profile.

That's because the editor data file change is necessarily made in English, as are all other club name changes. Not much one can do there
Please don't post in caps, it's akin to shouting. Did you apply these files after starting a new game?
Good, buy an original version of the game

I somehow missed your earlier post.
As has been repeated many times, including in the installation instructions and in the blurb at the top of the page, club name changes (including German club name changes) will only take effect if you start a save game. If you've start a save game already, then a workaround can be found in the opening post of this thread. To clarify, how is Schalke 04 displayed in your game?
It's in a rar file, which can be extracted by WinRar...

Thanks.
Marc.
I didn't, I search for Schalke in the editor and nothing comes up.

Hi Mons,
Thanks for taking the time to respond to all these questions. Like I stated in my earlier post, yes I started a new game, directly after reinstalling fm15 then applying the fix. In response to your question, Schalke 04 are displayed simply as Schalke

Clubs in FM have two versions of their name, the long name and the short name. The short name is displayed in the league table (like in the screenshot) and in the club overview screen (the one where you can say their league position history, manager, captain and vice captain, stadium info, club info etc. - can't screenshot it at the moment). The long name is only displayed in the squad screen. This is the way it has been coded by FM and this is the way that this file is intended to work, so I can't see much wrong there.
This is an English-language forum, so please post in English.
CarloLewis
And there lies the answer!! It seems that the names have indeed changed, however ONLY when you go to the Squad screen. I had been checking the team overview screen.
Not sure why SI have done it this way. What was throwing me, is the update shows the full names in FM14.
Ive actually done a little but more digging, and the team short name and long name seems to switch a lot when looking at different tabs within the club screen. I'll leave you alone now.

By the looks of it they have the Long and Short names the wrong way around in the game.... lol

Mons - So we cannot change the Club Overview screen that just says "Gladbach" nor can we change the Table or Scoreboard in-game as well due to SI's hard-coding? We can only change the Player Overview screen with these name fixes? (In my save game I had attempted to change the long name of Paris Saint-Germain and other short/long names by deleting the hashtags in your City, Club and Stadium Names.lnc file but did not see any changes when re-starting FM......I guess that's because it's not possible?)
The files work great as intended despite this limitation.
mons
As the club name changes are governed by the editor data file, you would need to make any changes to club names BEFORE starting a new game as the lnc files can't modify changes made by an editor data file.
It was displayed as Gladbach by default in the league table or scoreboards in FM14; I have used the EXACT same club names used in FM14.
The hashtags are there for anybody who started a save game BEFORE applying the Club Name Changes.dbc file and wanted to see those changes in his save game. Once you start a save game with the club name changes file in place, then they cannot be changed in your save-game.
Hope I've explained myself clearly.
Onyewu
Yes sir.....thank you.......we can't have it all :-).....I'll throw the idea in the SI suggestion box of allowing club name editing for the in-game editor in FM16
Onyewu
Could it be I didn't hit save when I edited your file? Would that affect it? If so, why would it work initially I wonder?
Tried again making sure I saved the edit.....set up a game, left the game, came back to it and the changes are gone....it wasn't meant to be.........back to the original save I guess

Aside from this, try downloading again...it may not have downloaded properly (similar to how your proof.png did not upload properly)

Solved.
Come out of the game completely then try...

Nothing that I noticed changed during game play except the fix names work.

What OS do you have? Give me more to work with, man, I'm not a mind reader.
