Did you see the leaflet/email/thing about them looking to extend the third tier so it goes behind the goals taking the capacity close to 60k? Bad news is their also looking to expand the premium seating areas.

I'd also expect to see the stadium expanded further a few years down the line after this expansion happens. The owner's seem to have massive plans for the area around the stadium.

He's not that bad, but I think he's way overrated. I always find his jokes on WILTY a bit hit-and-miss and pretty cheap, and Not Going Out is one of the worst television shows I've ever seen. It's the closest thing to When The Whistle Blows from Extras that actually exists in reality. The writing is shite, the story is bland and the jokes are just cheap witticisms that come across as lazy.

On a space by space basis safe standing offers, in theory, a 100% increase. Although in reality it is probably more like 80%. If they charge you the original seating price then they are ripping you off to be honest. But the installation has to be paid for I guess.

I'm assuming there would be price drop for the standing areas but I'm not trying not to get my hopes up.
Also, it could be BS but, apparently City have approached the FA with an offer to trail Safe Standing.

Bristol City are one of the teams behind it also. We already have an unreserved stand and most people stand in it anyway, but that makes it unsafe. The rails would make the inevitable (i.e. standing at football) much safer. No brainer IMO.

I don't see the point of expanding much beyond 60k, we just about manage to pull in 75k, but we've also completely destroyed the season ticket waiting list (ok, thats more to do with the Glazer's abhorrent ACS scheme, a recession and price increases) and further diluted any atmosphere.
Even then, I'd wait until you actually need to. Demand will obviously increase, (and I can't wait for the bluemoon rants about the Chinese people with cameras) but until you have probably 65,000 people that want to come on any given saturday I can't see how it's going to help, really.

Because until the point where they actually need a bigger stadium they're just paying to have more empty blue seats. Would kill whats left of the atmosphere, drive down ticket prices and, for all you know, the demand would never actually materialise. From a business point of view it's a stupid idea, and if City are committed to being run sensibly from now on (as they claim they are) then they need to start taking decisions from that point of view.

Anyway, I'm not saying we always have full-houses now (we don't always) but we have consistently sold out for the past two seasons and demand is rising. Expansion makes sense, especially when it's going to take at least a couple of years to come to fruition.

City said it was a sell out, clearly loads didn't turn up and that's not exactly a one-off, European and cup games are especially bad.
Just because the 'official' figures show that City have averaged 47k, doesn't mean they actually have.

Besides, there aren't many clubs that aren't struggling to get full-houses in the cup competitions. Even United with their 600bn fans have struggled to fill Old Trafford for Carling Cup games and some of the European games.

Anyone that thinks City regularly have 47k people are probably stupid enough to believe that we had over 70k turn up against Cluj when the Stadium was half empty, after all, that was the official attendance.
City will need a 60k seater stadium seater eventually, but until that demand is there it makes absolutely no sense to do anything more than make plans. Otherwise its just wasting money.

Do you not think any plans to expand the stadium will have been carefully examined and assessed by a number of well-educated experts at City before any final decision is made? No offence, but I'm sure there's been plenty of thought regarding an expansion from people far more educated than some bloke on the internet.

I think it's part of the plan to bump start City as a major club by a heavy investment in infrastructure. I think it's a move they'll make regardless of demand but not one that a club would make unless it was part of that plan.
I don't think it's a simple case of 'we need more space because we have too many fans to fit in the current stadium', cynically I would suggest it's part of a plan to use creative official attendance figures to increase match day revenue and channel money into the club through means which are FFP approved because there's no way City will regularly fill a 60k seater stadium for at least 3 or 4 more seasons (and arguably more than that).
