Installation Instructions
1. How do I install the cut-out megapack if Iâm using Steam on Windows?
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. Although it is for an older version of FM, the steps are still the same. You need to use Winrar (or a similar program) to extract the downloaded file.
This is what the MP folder should look like for the respective version of FM you're using:
Anything beyond the blue line is up to you and how you want to structure your folders.
The preferences should look like in the below screenshot:
To get them to look like this, navigate to your preferences on the welcome screen or by using the drop-down menu near the top right of the menu within your save game.
Choose the advanced tab (the blue square within the screenshot above) and select all from the drop-down menu on the right (the red square within the screenshot above).
Scroll down to the interface section near the middle of the list, where you are to make sure that:
âą the âUse caching to decrease page loading timesâ box is unticked
âą the âReload skin when confirming changes in Preferencesâ box is ticked
After clicking confirm, it may take a few seconds or minutes for all the graphics to be loaded and you should now see all the graphics you have downloaded appear in your save game.
Once your skin is reloaded, you can re-tick the "Use Caching to Decrease Page Loading Time" button so that the splash screen at the start takes a lot less longer to load. However, the above process needs to be undertaken every time you add graphics to your game to ensure that the game "reads" them.
2. How do I install the cut-out megapack if Iâm using a Mac OS?
From FM20 onwards, there's been a substantial change to how Mac FM documents are stored. Previously the files would automatically go in the Documents folder here:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x
Now the files will instead appear in the following location:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click âGoâ from the menubar
Press and hold down the âOptionâ (Alt) key
This will bring up the âLibraryâ, click to enter then go to âApplication Supportâ -> âSports Interactiveâ -> âFootball Manager 202x -> graphicsâ (create the last folder if necessary
Anything beyond this path line is up to you and how you want to structure your folders.

3. I donât want to have the megapack in the default user data folder â can I place it elsewhere and how would I do so?
You need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.
The above step does not apply if youâre playing on Gamepass, in which case the user data location has to be the default one (i.e. Documents / Sports Interactive / Football Manager 202x)
It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
4. How do I install the cut-out megapack if Iâm using Gamepass?
If you're using Gamepass, then you have to use the default user data folder - point 4 above does not and can not apply to you.

Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.
Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.
These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.
Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
The likelihood is that you've put the iconfaces in the faces folder, or used the wrong config file for each folder. As a result, the smaller images (in 25x18) are being upscaled to be displayed in the person's profile, hence the blurring. Re-install the update pack again, making sure you put the contents of each folder in the right place.
Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
To get them to show, you should individually download the cut-out faces that you want from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

Moved this to here in case of further follow-up questions.
Once extracted, it would go into Documents / Sports Interactive / Football Manager 2017 / graphics.

Can I have a screenshot of your megapack folder and of how it looks in-game?
Do you have any other facepacks loaded perchance? Or did you download any others in the past? Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it may impact occasionally how the game reads them

Apologies for the very late reply, I somehow did not see this.
I'm afraid you've placed them in completely the wrong folder; what you have shown me in the screenshot is the game installation folder, whereas the files must be installed in Documents / Sports Interactive / Football Manager 2017.
All you need to do is cut your graphics folder from the path in the screenshot and place it in the above. Should do the trick
jcwolf
Its sad cause I have being using it for ever..but now I can not make it work..
Today downloaded the XML tool and still no go...
Tis FM its a pain in the ... to install graphic Mods ...
mons
Can I have a screenshot of your megapack folder? Do you have a config file?
I would recommend downloading the megapack via torrent, it's much quicker to download and install

I recently made the mistake of deleting a graphics folder from my onedrive folder and lost all my graphics, even though I still had them in the correct FM17 graphics folder.......
I'm not sure why the onedrive folder mattered because I've never set it to be used, however now I cannot get my graphics to work properly. I've even put the folder back in onedrive!
I seem to have some graphics but the top divisions in each country seem to be mainly missing barring a couple of clubs.
I've tried deleting all my graphics, including faces, pictures and logos and it hasn't made any difference.
Any ideas please?
mons
Have you tried clearing the game cache from within the preferences?
jcwolf
Hi there thanks for the reply..yesterday tried the DF11 mega pack just to see if would happen the same thing and , yes it doesn't show as whell---
I do not understand this cause in other previous versions of FM I always used your Cutout Facepack and this is the first time I am having problems to install any Facepack...
mons
Can I have a screenshot inside your megapack folder please?
Also, what are those 2 .fmf files, and where did you get them from?
jcwolf
Those fmf files is the same packs that I have done with the Football Manager 2017 Resource Archiver...it turns the Folders into fmf files...
Its another try to see if it worked or not..but don't work as well...
Inside the pack either the cutout mega packs plus updates and the DF11 megapack plus updates there are just the png images plus XML file of the Df11 and from the cutout mega pack to sub folders one with faces and another with icons both with their respective XML file...
Believe me nothing is badly installed it just doesn't work on this version and I have no idea why...
Maybe its a windows 10 issue..don't know what is wrong..
mons
jcwolf
I add a screenshot attachment in my previous post ???!!!
mons
I want to look inside your cutout faces megapack folder. Can you give me a screenshot of that pls?
jcwolf
Give me 6 minutes ...I am unpacking the all thing again..cause I am using the DF11..but since none of the 2 work I will unpack The cutout again ...
Question do I have to download the all updates or just the 9 version and then the latest 9.05...cause this is what I have done...
jcwolf
Sorry about the double post..
What should be the graphic folder structure !
mons
You will need to have the 9.0 pack, then apply all 5 update packs in order, overwriting when prompting. At the end you should have all 182,000+ images (plus config file) in one folder, similar to what the DF11 folder looks like, basically.
Can you then try loading up the game then and giving me a screenshot of a player who doesn't have a cutout but which you think should have one? And also of the interface section of the preferences please.
Once the process is complete, apart from the screenshot inside the megapack folder, can I also have a screenshot of the main Documents / SI / FM2017 folder?
jcwolf
ok...I will have to download the other updates then..cause I didn't but the DF11 haves all updates and still doesn't work..
I will download every update and then will make the screens you want will post later when I have everything installed...
mons
Excellent If you can upload the screenshot of the main Documents / SI / FM2017 folder now, I can see if there is perhaps something in there which it shouldn't. The screenshot basically
Once you have downloaded and applied all the files, and once you have loaded the game, and before taking the screenshots, can you also try clearing the cache from within the preference? That could also perhaps be the cause...
jcwolf
Ok...I have done again every step by the book...And still nothing..only this time I downloaded all the updates..but no go...here Ill attach the images files...
mons
All looks perfectly in place except for one thing.
In-game, there is an empty space where faces should be. If it was an issue with the megapack itself, the black default face would be displayed instead.
Since it's a blank space, this means that there is a "rogue" config file somewhere within the graphics or FM17 folder, which is forcing to game to look for images in a folder where there are no images. I cannot ask you to screenshot every folder in there, but do you think it would be possible to type config in the search field and screenshot the results?
Also, can you try swapping the in-game preferences shown below:
i.e. use caching ticked and reload skin unticked
jcwolf
Here ...divided the all config search result into 4 images ..
jcwolf
Damian30
Yep, done it every time i then try to rebuild the skin and no joy.
I have badges like Watford, Newcastle, Norwich but no others.
And facewise, I'm just left with the black face
mons
I'll be honest, I'm at a bit of a loss as everything seems to be in order. One last thing, can you search for config in this folder?
Looks like you only have the default logos and faces.
Could you (a) try changing your user data folder to point to the one on your system (instructions here) and (b) follow this advice.
jcwolf
This is the search result inside the docs FM folder...
mons
Nothing seems to be out of line there either. I'm at a complete loss. I know it's something straight-forward, but I just can't put my finger on it.
Check your PM's, I'll be sending you a possible way forward.
jcwolf
tried out the other solution you gave me in steam game FM properties and set the launch options to my user folder in the main drive ...but no go as whell...
I have tried so many things even reinstalled the game from scratch and still no go...
Ill check my email..periodical.. thanks for the hand on this...also been reading other people posts on various sites related to this issue and it seems that with this FM a lot of people are having the same issue...
The thing is that for example...I started installing the Metallic logos , and those didn't show as whell...so installed this facepack and this was the result no go..so I have installed TCM17 logos and they worked using the Football Manager 2017 Resource Archiver...with the kits the same....
but with the players face packs I just couldn't make any work ..
Do not know why..have no idea...since I never add this problem in prev FM versions..
Sad cause faces make a huge difference playing this game...
