They're certainly young enough to end up in 10 years time being looked back at as club legends.

As for major international honours or any honours, that really doesn't prove anything. I mean Ross Turnbull has the same amount of Champions League winners medals as Petr Čech, Peter Schmeichel and more than Gianluigi Buffon, yet you wouldn't say he's better.

It's pretty clear that Wilshere, Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain could become world class players for both Arsenal and England.

In some cases, yeah, honours don't prove anything. But the Turnbull analogy is pretty irrelevant in this situation I think

With players like Vieira, Henry etc. it has some weight given they were actually key contributors in their teams/national side. Not a reserve GK like Turnbull.

You sure?

Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain can definitely match or be better than Pires, Reyes or Ljungberg.

Dream on

Pires was absolutely amazing, neither of them have looked like they could get near his potential.

Fellaini, Wilshere, Cazorla, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rooney with Podolski, Giroud, Ramsey and Arteta for depth.

I have a feeling we will sign Rooney and I think he'd be perfect for us if we did.

No, just no.

It's hardly an unreasonable claim. We can afford him/his wages, need a world class striker and like it or not we are still one of the biggest clubs in the world and an attractive team to play for.

Rooney is currently in RvP's shadow and he'd be the main man/focal point at Arsenal so I don't think his desire to play for us in doubt, just comes down to whether we will pay his wages. I'm confident that Wenger/the board realise it's time to start paying the best players top money (especially as this month we are releasing all of the shit players on 60k a week freeing up 10's of millions of wages on players that never play).

Sticking my neck out here and saying Rooney will be an Arsenal player by the time the new season starts.

Why not? Just curious why some Arsenal fans scream for us to spend money on big players but don't want one of the best strikers in the world. Not as good as Van Persie but leagues above Giroud.

If you hate him (rather than him as a stirker), consider the fact that everyone except Arsenal fans hate Wilshere. Rooney and Wilshere are very similar, both give it their all which is something our squad lacks for the majority of the season.

Signing Rooney would be a mistake. There are far better ways to spunk £200k p/w.

Everyone hates Wilshere?

Obviously not everyone but a lot fans of other clubs think he's a cunt. Heard it a lot irl (not just Spurs fans) and seen it mentioned loads of times on here that 'he's a great player but still a cunt'.

Anyway I agree there are other good options out there, I was just stating some of the reasons why it's not totally ridiculousness to consider we may sign him.

I also want to know why TS doesn't want to sign him as I've seen that opinion a lot on Twitter, also seen many criticise the potential signing of Fellaini. Arsenal fans demand proven great PL players, get linked with Rooney and Fellaini but don't want them. I'd imagine if it was the other way around and if we had only signed Yaya Sanogo people like TS would be calling for Wengers head and asking why he never payed top dollar for a proven striker like Rooney.

I don't think 100k p/w is too bad for Walcott in the grand scheme of things, supposedly Ashley Young is on £120k and Nani and Valencia are both on £90k. If we had refused to pay him £100k p/w and let him go on a free there would be outrage and people moaning that we are too tight, lose-lose.

I dislike Rooney but that's not why I don't want us to go in for him. It appears as if he's past his best and has fitness problems, plus a large ego to boot. If we're really prepared to pay £25m for an indvidual and offer him a wage of around £200k p/w, there options that appeal far more to me - I'd much rather us spend that money on someone like Higuain or Jovetic, or even spend that money on someone like Cesc and buy a cheaper striker instead.

Yeah, the same Theo Walcott that directly contributed to over 30 of our goals this season through goals and assists. I'm happy to see him paid that much money if he makes that contribution each season, and he'd probably be paid significantly more than that at United, City or Chelsea.

there hasn't even been news that we've made a bid and lets face it, if we both did make bids he'd probably come here.

Well, that (according to the media at least) we're in the driving seat for this deal gives me an opportunity to celebrate a victory (however minor) over you lot, because, you know, I'm a bitter cunt.

Just let me be dammit.

You are seriously obsessed,

He's become a lot more respectable over the past couple of years. Becoming a father has had an influence.

Avoid. Hasn't done anything since 2008 and his career's totally fallen apart, looked poor in the Championship last season, and would probably ask for big wages.

Don't think it'll happen though - West Ham would surely know better, wasn't he only with you last season? (as in 11/12)

Everyone seems to move and bring in some players but only us who we're linked with the same players for years. I hope Levy puts some money on the table for transfers otherwise I doubt we'll have CL football next season.

Meanwhile Asron Villa brings in Bulgarian winger Tonev.

Well our stadium debts have to have been paid off some day, maybe that time has come.

We've also secured some lucrative sponsorship deals, so that'll give us some leeway in terms of spending.

New stadium deal this season and the pretty much done-deal £30m a season kit sponsorship.l AST (supporters group) did an analysis of all our accounts recently and the outcome was that we can comfortably spend £100m this summer.

For the last 18 months we have had £50m+ in the bank that could have been spent without damaging us but the club chose not to. So it's just a matter of whether we will or not now the new deals are coming through and the stadium is closer to being paid off.

EDIT: Rumour is Higuain is 'very close' to signing for us, would love him here but it's probably bollocks.
