Installation Instructions
1. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using Steam on Windows?
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. Although it is for an older version of FM, the steps are still the same. You need to use Winrar (or a similar program) to extract the downloaded file.
This is what the MP folder should look like for the respective version of FM you're using:
Anything beyond the blue line is up to you and how you want to structure your folders.
The preferences should look like in the below screenshot:
To get them to look like this, navigate to your preferences on the welcome screen or by using the drop-down menu near the top right of the menu within your save game.
Choose the advanced tab (the blue square within the screenshot above) and select all from the drop-down menu on the right (the red square within the screenshot above).
Scroll down to the interface section near the middle of the list, where you are to make sure that:
• the “Use caching to decrease page loading times” box is unticked
• the “Reload skin when confirming changes in Preferences” box is ticked
After clicking confirm, it may take a few seconds or minutes for all the graphics to be loaded and you should now see all the graphics you have downloaded appear in your save game.
Once your skin is reloaded, you can re-tick the "Use Caching to Decrease Page Loading Time" button so that the splash screen at the start takes a lot less longer to load. However, the above process needs to be undertaken every time you add graphics to your game to ensure that the game "reads" them.
2. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using a Mac OS?
From FM20 onwards, there's been a substantial change to how Mac FM documents are stored. Previously the files would automatically go in the Documents folder here:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x
Now the files will instead appear in the following location:
Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 202x
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:
Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 202x -> graphics’ (create the last folder if necessary
Anything beyond this path line is up to you and how you want to structure your folders.
The preferences should look like in the below screenshot:
To get them to look like this, navigate to your preferences on the welcome screen or by using the drop-down menu near the top right of the menu within your save game.

3. I don’t want to have the megapack in the default user data folder – can I place it elsewhere and how would I do so?
You need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.
The above step does not apply if you’re playing on Gamepass, in which case the user data location has to be the default one (i.e. Documents / Sports Interactive / Football Manager 202x)
It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
4. How do I install the cut-out megapack if I’m using Gamepass?
If you're using Gamepass, then you have to use the default user data folder - point 4 above does not and can not apply to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you're not a premium member, it is recommended that you download the base megapack via torrent by going to our cut-out megapack download page. After which, you should then download all the update packs released to date and apply them chronologically.

Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.
Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.
These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.
Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
The likelihood is that you've put the iconfaces in the faces folder, or used the wrong config file for each folder. As a result, the smaller images (in 25x18) are being upscaled to be displayed in the person's profile, hence the blurring. Re-install the update pack again, making sure you put the contents of each folder in the right place.
Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
To get them to show, you should individually download the cut-out faces that you want from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

I recommend downloading the torrent file and then the subsequent update packs - it'll take less time that way...

There is a little problem here. I have 130491 files on my Football Manager 2013\graphics\faces folder (megapack 5.8). A few faces don't appear on the game (Pato, Thiago Silva etc ) I have re-generated the config.xml file (9,40MB) with FMXML , but the problem persists. I have checked those players IDs and they are all correct. Can anyone could help me with this issue?
P.S. Forgive my terrible english.
mons
That's because you missed some update packs along the way. The full megapack with all update packs released should contain 160,000 images or thereabouts not 130k...
luizcldo
Ok, i see. But those faces that i have mentioned (Pato and Thiago Silva) are in the folder and in the config.xml file. Why they don't appear?

Ah yeah, that was it! Thanks for that. I'd installed it before, but extremely incorrectly lol.
Cheers mate.

Could you upload a screenshot of your megapack folder please?

The correct location for the megapack folder is within Documents > Sports Interactive > Football Manager 2013 > graphics. This last folder may need to be created. As long as it's in that path, it will display correctly - you would be well advised to create another folder (name it what you want) and put the megapack in there.

I picked Gloucester City to play and I couldn't help thinking that faces in my laptop FM (without facepack installed - not enough HDD space ) looked to be the latest ones compared to the megapack alternatives on my PC. I've checked the creation dates for some ID's and indeed, some files there date back to 2010 and even 2009 in one case.
Is there a non-manual way of excluding those outdated (or even all of them) megapack faces from ID's that have their own faces in a clean version of the game? In other words, I'd prefer to have original faces overwriting megapack faces, not the other way around (yes, yes, I know the MP faces are supposed to be better than the original ).
Cheers

Sorry if that sounds like a rant but I spent a LOT of time checking through thousands of SI's cut-outs last year, largely for nothing.
If you want to add the images to your game you'll need to use the resource archiver to extract SI's cut-outs for Gloucester then rename them to their correct ID numbers & add them to your megapack.

Can anybody confirm the same situation?

Anyway I can fix this?

Thank you very much

I have never downloaded any of these facepacks before.
I am not sure about which base pack to download V5.0 or V4.0
Any help would be welcomed.
Sorry if i posted this in the wrong forum.
mons
Hi there and welcome to our forums. As the number indicates, v5.0 is the most recent base pack version - it was released in October 2012. You can either choose to download it via split files or via torrent. Once that large download is completed, I suggest that you download all the 9 update packs released since then to be fully up-to-date with all the new and improved images cut since that date.

Thank you very much. I have downloaded the V5.0 and now I am downloading the updates now ... How do i install the updates to my base pack?
Side Splitting Pass
Start with update 5.1. Move all the contents of that folder into your megapack base pack folder then delete the (now empty) 5.1 folder. Do exactly the same thing with the 5.2 folder. Keep doing this in numerical order with all the updates finishing with the just released 5.9 update.

I've checked the id multiple times (29086005) it doesn't even come up in windows windows asking me to replace it like it normlly does.
Every other face in the game shows up apart from this one?
any ideas?
mons
Will Hughes' image was part of the licensed images included by SI when the game came out, which is what you are seeing. His image was "officially" included in the megapack in 5.04, as can be seen here.
This leads me to think that either you are still with the base 5.0 megapack (and are therefore missing the MP image) or that you have not downloaded from update pack 5.04 onwards (and the config line for the player therefore does not exist).
Either download and apply all the missing update packs in order, or generate a new config file using fmXML.
JayJay777
I then decided to delete the config altogether and checked in game before i made a new one, but the faces are still showing up in the game even without it.
How is this even possible?
blackmetalboon
Either you have a second config file somewhere (although this is unlikely) or the faces you are seeing are the ones included by SI with the game.
mons
Can you upload your config.xml file?
JayJay777
I've used the windows search box and checked myself (multiple times) there is no config file in my megapack folder.
I only updated my megapack up to 5.1 as i lost patience with the amount of times i lost connection during the downloads.
My internet is slow and regularly cuts off during downloads unless it's a torrent.
I've just been going through the improvement and team pack release threads, updating the megapack myself.
I currently have 118,282 images in my megapack and no config, yet it is still working in the game.
This is the config i have just made using fmXML, but don't need as it's working even without it.
mons
How can you have no config in your megapack folder, when you have just posted one? To be absolutely crystal clear, there is no way that the megapack is working if you don't have a config file in the MP folder. It's a bit like saying my car is working without an engine, it's simply not possible. If the MP's working, there's a config file in there somewhere.
The windows search box sometimes does not find all the files within a non-indexed folder, which is possibly why you're not finding the config file in there.
The config file you've attached includes the line respective to the person in question, so it's not the problem.
I suspect there's something wrong in your folder set-up. Perhaps you could take a screenshot so we can gauge what the problem might be...
JayJay777
I didn't have a config file in my megapack as i deleted it, but you asked me to upload one, so i edited my post to include a copy of the one i was using (If that makes sense).
As i stated, the config i posted is one i've just made using fmXML, which i made to drop into the megapack folder to see if it would ask me to overwrite the one that should be in there somewhere (that i can't find)
Apologies if i have confused you, thats my fault. I appreciate your help on matter.
I understand how crazy it sounds by the way, as i know it should not work without the config file in there.
