PlayStation 4?

Doesnt bother me in the slightest, ive not had the inclination to play a PS2 game once since ive got my PS3

It might not bother you but it will certainly annoy the fuck out of a lot of people.

People will always find something to moan about but the vast majority of people wont care, just keep your PS3 if you want to play the games, not like you'll get much for it if you sell it

It's a nice feature to have when the consoles new and there's not many games out, couldn't give a fuck after about a year though.

I can guarantee you Microsoft will launch at Christmas. They won't launch after the holidays, that's suicidal.

Personally it just seems like Sony have rushed this launch to beat Microsoft, hence why they didn't even show the console as it's not finished.

MS have shown they are much better at marketing, would surprise me if they cocked the launch of their new console up.

They've also shown that they have shitty exclusive games.

Non-backwards compatibility isn't surprising for me, I kind of guessed that would be the way and I'm planning on keeping my PS3 anyway. Wish I'd kept all my old consoles tbh. All I've got is my Xbox, wish I still had my Dreamcast /o\

As someone who is in the middle here and has used Xbox 360 for years and just starting to use PS3 what exclusives would you say I should get? Apart from Uncharted and Infamous.

Oh, I'm not necessarily saying PS3 have the bestest exclusives in the world, I'm just a huge fan of Infamous and Uncharted.
I've never been very interested in the exclusives the 360 have to offer, apart from Alan Wake maybe.

Anyway, I don't know.. God of War maybe? I never played it, but people seem to like it. Heavy Rain's another one.

I don't think I've ever bought an Xbox exclusive Mass Effect, Halo and Gears of War just don't interest me. Actually bought Halo 3 when I bought my Xbox for £3, played it for 5 minutes, hated it.

Didn't Sony announce something vague about being able to download your old games? This seems like the most sensible option for backwards compatibility. No idea how that would work with discs.

Anyway good to see Sony are trying to take the initiative here, rather than, how arrogant they came across with the PS3 launch.

Would you be able to play the games which are currently on PSN on the PS4? That would be a fucking excellent idea, particularly for launch when titles can be hit and miss.

PS3 games will be streamed, like OnLive.

I'm assuming it would be a subscription model though.

The PS4 uses a different architecture to the PS3, so it's not possible to play PS3 games on it.

Watched the whole thing and it was very impressive. The total package looks good and it means Microsoft have to at least equal them on all fronts in order to get parity. I know that sounds dumb, but what I mean is that if there is anything about the next Xbox that underwhelms they're going to get slaughtered. The way news is spread has changed so much since 2005, they need to come off smelling of roses, something Sony did very well two days ago.

God of War is amazing, MGS4, Little Big Planet, Dark/Demon Souls (which I've still not played but my mates bum off it), Heavy Rain and Journey.

Going back to the used games:

An activation code is stupid, no matter how you look at it.

If it is based on your console, what happens if it breaks and I have to get a new one? Do I lose all of my games?

The answer to that is basic, make it account-based and not console-based, right? Wrong. Because if I have brothers and we play on different accounts because we have different friends and we just want to, would we be forced to buy the same game multiple times?

The only thing that is happening here is a loop, a loop of why it probably won't happen.

I also think that turning the whole market digital is stupid. I can't download certain things off of the Xbox marketplace because I am in Israel, same goes for other people in different countries. If they make games downloadable, a hell lot of people will be hurt, and so will the game makers, because they will lose a lot of potential buyers.

Didn't really follow the news but it doesn't matter, just my reasoning to why it won't happen soon.

The way Microsoft does its DLC/Games on demand licensing is the best way, imo.

The first console you download it to gets the license so any account can play it on that console, but your account can play it on whatever console you download the DLC/GOD to. If your console breaks, you can license transfer your console license to a new one, you can do that twice a year, in exceptional circumstances if you ring Microsoft they give special dis-pension provided you have good cause.

I don't have a PS3 and I fancy a PS4 when it comes. Will I be able to buy games which are currently available on PSN on the PS4? 80% of the reason I want a PS4 is because I want to play som PSN games so.
