The source is a poor Photoshop which has removed all the hair details.

@pablovester What sizes are the source images you're cutting? If they're large enough, it's better to size them to 250*250px than 180px - especially when many of the players already have high quality 250px cutouts as there isn't any point to having an inferior 180px cutout.

@weeniehutjr I am getting all of them from official River Plate website. Most of them are 270x360, so I try to edit them and sharpen them a little bit. As I was writing this comment, I realized there are 655x667 files available.

These are the latest photos from the players, and as some of them are outdated I'd figure I could upload them here. If I am not following any guidelines, I am sorry! I was trying to contribute to the team. Let me know if I should stop, thank you for your comment.

@weeniehutjr The 655x667 files do look much better. Example
Do you think those might work better as submission?

It really depends on the current cut-out. If it's of a high-quality and quite recent, and his looks haven't changed, then these kind of sources aren't really large enough to provide improvements because once you crop them to the face area, they just aren't large enough.

@mons I mean yeah, these new official pictures work absolutely great in 300x300, though I understand in this particular Borré case that his looks may not look too different from the previous approved cut out. Should a submission be made with a few months of difference even if it's super high quality picture? Or it's not worth it?

I'm afraid that is far from a super high quality picture. While this is indeed 653x667 in dimensions, a lot of space is taken up by areas which are not really important for a facepack. If you crop it to closer to the chin, this is what you get:

I'm at work so can't confirm, but as it's only 257 pixels height, once you nudge the collar upwards and crop it, it'll probably need to be upscaled and for the snow to be removed. So there's a fair bit of work to be done it for it to be game-ready.

The current cut-out can definitely be improved but I have my doubts as to whether this source will provide an improvement due to the reasons listed above.

To answer your final question, when the current megapack cut is recent, of a very good quality and similar to the player's present look (i.e. no drastic haircut etc.), then there is very little point in spending time to cut a source which will be a little more recent. There are hundreds of thousands of players in the game's database and in the megapack, and there are much more pressing needs than having cuts updated every few months. It's just a question of using one's time effectively, after all 🙂

P.S. It's 250x250 not 300x300 😉

@mons Yep, it's 257 pixels as you say. I can totally understand that there's some work to be done with that Ignacio Fernandez source but I can give it a shot and submit it to the cut out thread for some feedback if that's okay.

Thank you for your time of answering all these doubts and questions and sorry for any trouble I may have caused!

No trouble at all.

Give it a go and I'll have a look at it to see if there's anything which can be improved in it and if it'll eventually be an improvement. My hunch is that it won't, but happy to be proven wrong 🙂

One more thing. If you happen to have a batch of images to upload, save yourself some time and use the upload pack button instead of uploading them individually like you did yesterday 😉
