The king. Great couple of finishes from him today, the second in particular - no mean feat at 38 years of age. Absolute hero.

Napoli v Juventus has just started so let's hope for a Napoli win.

Great goal from Higuain against Lazio to put Napoli in front. iirc he's now scored seven goals against them in total.

Can't help but feel a little more man love for Andra Pirlo after he said he's trying to save Brescia, where he started his career, from bankruptcy.

I can't imagine Mexes will be playing any football for a while, after doing this when he was sent off:

Luckily he didn't actually make contact. Also it was nice to see Mauri avoid being headbutted and not make a meal of anything.

Mattia Destro just joined AC Milan on loan from Roma. Could be made permanent at the end of the season.

Busy mercato in Italy this January. Doumbia is apparently on his way to Roma on a loan deal from CSKA.

Who said Serie A is boring, eh?

http://www.football-italia.net/62073/icardi-and-guarin-argue-fans

"As is customary, the squad went to the end of the stadium where the visiting fans were sitting and threw their jerseys into the stands. However, this time the shirts were thown right back at them, infuriating Icardi and Guarin. Andrea Ranocchia tried to pull the two players away, but Guarin insisted he had given his heart for the shirt, while Icardi hurled abuse at the supporters."

Some great action there. Zaza's goal against Inter to make it 1-0 was a cracker as well, good player he is.

Eto'o stormed out of Sampdoria training this morning because Mihajlovic made them do double sessions after their 5-1 defeat yesterday. Pretty odd.

Love this quote from Mihajlovic

“In order to have a row, you need two people and quite frankly Eto’o did everything himself”

Two big egos are always going to clash as well really, Eto'o seems a bit of an arse nowadays as well.

I watched the Inter Sassuolo game on Sunday, Sassuolo were very good, I couldn't believe how bad Inter were tho

Apparently Berlusconi's rejected a 790 million euro bid for Milan from a Singaporean.

Since when did we become major players in world football?

There are reports that Parma have dissolved. Sad news if it's true.

Automatically relegated according to Eurosport.

Not completely gone, but in dire need of saving from someone wealthy.

Italian football is at a real low right now. Wasn't so long ago that they had 3 world class teams that could win the CL, but now not a single one of them is even close to challenging for it. That scandal in 2006 is still harming the Italian leagues to be honest.

It's not just that but also that there is no money in Italian football any more. It's getting harder to attract the best players because the league isn't like it once was during it's prime and has steadily declined.

The rise of rival leagues on and off the field hasn't helped either. Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga.

Compared to ze Germans and their well renowned efficiency and systems for everything, you don't really think of Italy as a nation that can turn something like this around easily. "The thinnest book in the world is that of Italian war heroes". Then you have the outdated stadiums, the bad financial situation, lack of talent and planning when it comes to youth development, racism, poor European results etc.

It's do-able but it will be a tough task as it's Italy we're talking about.

The Salah/Cuadrado deal is proving to be a great piece of business for Viola. He's just added to his tally with two goals in the Coppa Italia semi-final away to Juve now. 2-1 65 minutes played.

They've both been gifted to him, especially the second. What was Marchisio doing??

His first goal was quality, just seen that Fiorentina only have to pay 1m euros to extend his loan in summer, excellent business indeed.

No surprise that a bit of managerial confidence and a fair opportunity to build a little rhythm and form results in good performances. He got neither at Chelsea and that's fault of Mourinho and his unwillingness to rotate and trust players beyond the first eleven. Hope he continues to do well, no doubt Chelsea will cash in on him eventually.

He took both his goals terrifically well. The chances were still gifted to him. Juventus shouldn't have been caught on the break like that from their own corner in the 11th minute. It's the type of goal you concede on FIFA.
