Tbh, I'm pretty happy with how its turned out. By sheer luck we'll have him for most of his best years. If he'd stayed then we'd be talking about his recent transfer to Real Madrid or more likely had a similar career path to Januzaj. Having been a club thats received a world record fee and now spent one, I can tell you which I prefer.

Be interesting to see if Mourinho plays what I'd consider his best team which I think is the side we picked against Everton in the first half with Mkhi in for Lingard.

It's alright, on transfer deadline day he'll resort to desperately filtering the player search by LB and value and blindly bidding for 32 players, whilst scouting them at the same time, in the hope you get a bid accepted for someone half decent.
Or is that just me?

It just strikes me as one of those transfers where everyones sitting around going 'Why aren't my club in for him?' when the reality is, like everyone, they've sounded out his agent early doors and know whats up.
But that said, if he did leave, I don't see him going to Arsenal. We'll be looking to throw money at someone again next summer, PSG are desperate for someone to replace Zlatan, and Chelsea, and City would be in for him. Maybe he'll be like Sanchez and just decide he wants London, but, even then, I don't see what would draw him to Arsenal.

Thing is, he's not.
I like Jonny, and its a shame it didn't work out for him. But even when he was fit, he was bad, not just inconsistent, but outright bad, for at least three seasons before we sold him.
It sounds like he's found his level at West Brom and was their player of the season last season but I would have no faith on hm to replicate it back under the much more onerous surroundings of another big club.
And on the subject of Arsenal, you've got about as much hope of getting Messi as you do Greizmann.

Oh and Zlatan apparently just confirmed Pogba on Swedish TV.

The money our club makes is absurd and I'd rather spend it on something tangible like players than it being hoarded by the Glazers.
I think as a percentage of income the transfer deal for Pogba would rank at about the same as yours for Özil so whilst the money is crazy, I guess its just a reflection of the financial juggernaut we've turned in to. As long as it doesn't completely block the path for players like Fosu-Mensah and Rashford to come through, and the club doesn't put itself at financial risk by spending the cash, I don't really care how much we spend on players.

Same. I don't think I've ever cared less about a transfer saga involving us. I'd prefer we sign him, but if we'd told them to get to fuck after the free went north of €100m and signed someone else I would have been happy too. I think he's over-rated regardless of what happens.

There's videos of it as well. I've never seen us play on a worse pitch (and if the Dortmund game is anything to go on it will start cutting up from the first kick) .
Besides, there's an obvious difference between unavoidable obligations of a cup game and avoidable fixtures on an unfit pitch in China. Our pre-season schedule is short anyway (Mourinho reportedly forced the club to tack on the game against Wigan because he thought it was really bad) so I can't imagine anyones delighted about this.

'Playable'
I wouldn't want an under 11 team playing on that, let alone multi-million pound footballers playing a meaningless pre-season friendly.

Zlatan's had different numbers at different clubs so I doubt its anything he demanded, rather the club just being colossal morons.
All in all its nothing I think, a marketing guy will get his wrists slapped and we'll apologise to Martial offering to pay for his new branding or helping him out with it (we already do that for Rooney), he'll then keep 11 for as long as he's here and Rashford will get 9 when Zlatan goes. It's just stupid to piss of your best player for nothing and the lack of communication is criminal.

Jeez. I'm not even sure Higuain is that good (I know he had a good season in Italy, but still).

I don't think Klopp has anywhere near the pull Liverpool fans hoped/expected he would.
If you look at his transfers at Dortmund though thats not really surprising, it was always a case of getting more out of players than was expected rather than attracting players that Dortmund should not have been able to and the signs have been reasonably encouraging with your lot on that front already. If he can get Mane to perform consistently he'll be one of the best players in the league, I reckon. Similarly, whilst I don't think Wijhnaldum is a particularly inspiring signing, I don't think anyone questions his ability, more his attitude.
The big problem is that Dortmund continued to sign those sort of players after Klopp left, whereas your transfers so far strike suspiciously of the rubbish ones you made under Brendan. I guess we'll find out this season how much of it was down to Klopp at Dortmund and how much was down to the team of people tasked with signing players. Were they simply very good at spotting hidden talent that would have come good anywhere or was it down to Klopp working miracles with them? We'll see.

Aye, watched em all in the end.
They were alright, Chris Evans got a bit less annoying as it went on and when Rory Reid and Chris Harris started doing segments (episode 3 onwards I think) they started to make some good stuff. If you liked the car reviews in Old New Top Gear then they're well worth watching.
It wasn't great, but then neither was Clarkson, May and Hammond's Top Gear by the end but it was watchable.
