#569833 Can you install skins on the beta version of the game?
Tommy Hughes
Wonderful stuff! Thank you so much for your help!
#569650 Can you install skins on the beta version of the game?
Tommy Hughes
I use a minimally edited skin to allow backgrounds and get rid of things like the white box on the scouting screen etc, and with the required changes, it has loaded fine (I should stress that this is "so far" - I haven't yet tested on all screens or during a match etc).
This minimally edited skin you mentioned sounds like a neat thing to have, especially during this beta stage when I can't even browse the .fmf files with FM 2020's Archiver Tool. (It saddens and worries me that I'm not able to edit the sounds and sound triggers of FM 2021. Hopefully it'll be possible once the "official game" launches...)
Is there any way you could share the basic skin you've made for FM 2021?
#569574 Can you install skins on the beta version of the game?
Tommy Hughes
Unfortunately FM 21 won't accept a skin made for FM 20. It was the same with FM 20 and skins originally made for FM 19 etc. I remember back in the day you were able to at least edit the transparency level of the backgrounds yourself, without using a complete new skin made for that specific iteration of the game. Those were good times, because that way I could apply the background picture packs straight away in the beta stage of FM. Nowadays things don't work the same way, and we have no choice but to look at the default backgrounds and layout until the official version of the game and the Archiver Tools get released and people are able to start creating skins for FM 21.
#569569 FM20 Adboard Patch - V1.4 Out Now!!!
Tommy Hughes
Hey!
I was originally unimpressed with the "new" features and was considering just kicking a water bottle and not buying the latest game first time in years. However, I was convinced when I found out about the match engine and animation changes, which should (I've yet to play an actual match in FM21 because I'm slowly setting up my first beta save) improve the match experience immensely and add more realistic variety to it. Pretty much all the Steam reviews so far seem to reflect that as well.
#569219 FM21 Full Game is out
Tommy Hughes
Fingers crossed there will be an archiver tool for this year's game as well and the great community is able to work its magic as per usual. Frankly the game would not feel the same if that wasn't the case. 😢
#568667 Your Beta Save FM'21
Tommy Hughes
There are many interesting clubs playing in the second tier of Spain as well...
And Nacional da Madeira in Portuguese Liga NOS is a club I'd like to make a return to, having managed them in FM 2019...
There really is an abundance of intriguing options out there!
#568446 When would you recommend to start?
Tommy Hughes
If you mean when should you start a save in FM 2021, then the real names and licenses fix usually gets released the same day as the beta, only some hours later, so it might be worth the wait so that you get to have the correct names etc. in your first beta save.
I can't really say about the other patches, though.

#567713 sortitoutsi Background and Stadium Packs Technical Support Thread
Tommy Hughes
I'm currently trying to download the latest update packs, but 2020.08 and 2020.10 in particular are so big that I get 5 1/2 hour timeouts in Mega and therefore downloading a whole huge pack takes an entire day... and I'd really prefer no to leave my computer and internet running for hours on end while I'm away from home.
Would you happen to have these packs as as torrent, please?
Also, many thanks for the latest Cut Out Facepack torrent file! It made downloading the Cut Out Facepack update very nice and easy.

#564384 England - English Leagues Level 1-6 SS'2020/21 Relink! (30/04/21)
Tommy Hughes
Here's one reason: Just imagine the potential gonad pain it would cause to download a whole - let's say 400 mb to 1 gb sized - ss kit & 3D kit megapack (especially on a slow connection) just becuse the megapack is being re-released again and again after few new third kits are being added into one or two of the leagues. It would be either that or you'd have to wait weeks or months before the suitable mega pack was released and you were able to begin your new save and use the 3D kits of your chosen team with the SSKCC editor data file that makes the custom kits show up the right way in the match engine.
I think this current way is simpler and easier, especially when there are many different kitmakers, who tend to compile their own kitpacks and adding them together into one pack would certainly take a lot of time for whomever was tasked with it.

You can unpack and repack a game file archive with the archiver, using the FM Archiver tool. That way you can unpack a packaged FM archive into a folder, then copy your edited json file over the default version in that folder. Then just repack the folder into an archive file with the archiver tool, and done!
Also @RellomQ Don't worry about your little mistake. Those are bound to happen sometimes, and despite them, you have done a great job.

#562739 Strange issue with Download buttons suddenly not working in Mozilla Firefox browser
Tommy Hughes
My virus protection consists solely of Win 10 firewall and antivirus. Haven't noticed any changes or updates altely. Also tested disabling Adblocker, but the button still did not work. It's so strange that a basic website element stops from working all of a sudden. I just cannot recall anything that would've changed in my system around that time.
But thanks for your help all the same!

#562363 Strange issue with Download buttons suddenly not working in Mozilla Firefox browser
Tommy Hughes
I've encountered an issue that surfaced completely out of the blue.
If I remember correctly, I was able to use the site normally last Friday (2nd October), but when I tried to download the Data Update on Saturday, the Download button on the page didn't work. At first it seemed the button was completely unresponsive, but it does seem to try and load something and then fail and stop every time - either that or clicking "Download" simply causes the page to refresh itself. The same happens if I try to download an SS kit pack, 3D kit pack or some other content pack with a Download button on its page, but if there's a direct link (instead of a button) to a downloadable kit pack etc. I have no trouble whatsoever downloading it.
It also doesn't help if I right-click the Download button and try to open the link in a new window. The prompt "do you wish to save or open the file...?" will not appear at all. No other trick seems to enable downloading it either.
I haven't encountered similar issues on other web sites. Sortitoutsi.net seems to be the only one.
Now, I have always used Mozilla Firefox as my only browser and have never before had this issue, so I reluctantly resorted to testing Microsoft Edge browser and, for some reason, it downloads the Data Update just fine. The issue only comes up in Firefox.
To my knowledge, Firefox did not get any new update around the time this issue began. Nothing seems to have changed on my end. That is why I'm wondering if some mechanics behind the site's downloads were recently changed and that might be causing the issue on the Firefox browser. On the other hand, I haven't seen any posts from other users about the same issue, which does not make sense.
I'm dumbfounded and just wanted to ask if something on the site might be causing the issue or clashing with my browser, because I'm out of ideas myself - and I don't wish to use two separate internet browsers at the same time.
Thanks!
#562341 Football Manager 2020 realistic match engine patch
Tommy Hughes
I looked at the FM 20 properties in my Steam library and there are only three different options under Updates: 1) Always keep this game up to date, 2) Only update this game when I launch it and 3) High priority - always update this game before any others.
I think Steam used to have a "do not update without my permission" or something like it before, but alas, not anymore. Therefore it would be quite easy for SI to just force and update on FM 20 and ram it down our throats. Unless, of course, we the players were to prevent FM 20's files from making connections online by creating a specific rule in the firewall..?

Yeah, it works now. It didn't when I tried it before, don't know why.
Anyway, thank you!
#561741 Football Manager 2020 realistic match engine patch
Tommy Hughes
Perhaps two slightly different files would be the most optimal way to go - a more physicality-based and error-prone for the lower leagues and one focusing less on mistakes and odd bounces and more on player agility, speed, movement, passing etc. for higher levels of football?
Although, I do like the the prospect of the ball bouncing and ricocheting around more randomly than it currently does in the match engine. It sounds more realistic on any level of football. Odd bounces, lucky/unlucky ricochets, players tumbling into eachother, teammates accidentally blocking eachother off, ball bouncing between two opposite players very close to eachother and changing possession back and forth etc. sounds much more realistic than what the fairly clinical match engine currently provides. Might be a fine lne between chaos and the realistic unpredictibility, pure good or bad luck and the chance of "anything could happen in life, and in a game of football" but if it could be simulated bit better in the match engine it would make the game feel so much better and fascinating.

#560359 FM20 crossplay
Tommy Hughes
I own a Steam version of FM20 and the game has been having many hotfixes recently. Patch notes state that the main issues being fixed are online play-related. Also, many commentors are asking about having trouble connecting with their Origin-using friend to play FM20 online.
I don't play FM online at all, so I wouldn't know much about it, but it should be possible, provided that SI manage to fix the issues involved in it.

[center]Union Berlin - Stadium Dressing and Ultra banners - Collaboration with @Aljo24
Wow, that looks really fine! It would be so great to have a combination of adboards and fan banners for English and Scottish leagues etc. I've used your adboards for a long time and have just lately started tested merging them with some of the club banners from the banner pack that is also available on this site. When it works out, it looks great but it's so difficult for a layman like myself. Makes me appreciate the work you guys do even more.
#559718 FM2020 Licensing and Real Name Fix File v2.3 for FM20.4.1 [released on 28/04/2020]
Tommy Hughes
Hi there!
This Fix only takes care of the real names. You would have to download and install the logos and other such graphics that you need separately. Check the Graphics section on the upper banner of this site, you can navigate through various graphical downloads contributed by the community through there.
Good luck!
#558173 FM2020 Licensing and Real Name Fix File v2.3 for FM20.4.1 [released on 28/04/2020]
Tommy Hughes
FM 2020 had some minor update today. I checked the \db\ folders and some of them have been affected. There's at least a file named "transfer updates.dbc" in the folder: ...Steam\steamapps\common\\Football Manager 2020\data\database\db\2040\dbc\ that had either been added by or altered by the update.
Do you recon a new version of Real Names Fix is required?
Thanks!

#554575 Slovenia Premier League 3D'2019-20 for FM20 Relink! (28/08/20)
Tommy Hughes
I think I know what the issue is.
In the config of the Slovenian 3D kit pack there were lines:
<record from="celje_a" to="graphics/pictures/team/7580000/kit_textures/away"/>
<record from="celje_h" to="graphics/pictures/team/7580000/kit_textures/home"/>
I searched for the ID of Celje (here: https://sortitoutsi.net/search/database?q=celje&game_id=11&type=team) and it seems the club ID in the config was wrong.
Open the config file in Notepad and change the lines to:
<record from="celje_a" to="graphics/pictures/team/1637/kit_textures/away"/>
<record from="celje_h" to="graphics/pictures/team/1637/kit_textures/home"/>
