Ok thanks for your quick reply. If this proceeds to be an issue, is it possible to pay via bank transfer?
Footygamer
Unfortunately not
Footygamer
The issue with not being able to upload files over 100md has been resolved, people should now be able to upload files upto 5GB.
However if you're also adding a mediafire mirror, then you may still just add that mirror rather than uploading to us separately, it will probably be quicker.
Just tagging anyone who uploaded a file over 100mb in the past 12 months.

Hi. Although it was approved, it did not come to the notification page. I don't know if it's a one-time thing. Wanted to let you know.

Good evening, very interesting, why is there no Japan League?
It is, but there are no players from the clubs!?
Why?
Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum thread.
darrendazman
no daily update for 3 days now, any idea ?
Footygamer
Sorry was an issue with the server move on Friday, it should be ready now.
Footygamer
Hopefully fixed now. Any missed notifications won't be regenerated unfortunately.

Perfect 👌🏼
@Footygamer Been getting some errors lately when trying to reply to someone's comment, and also when editing my own
Footygamer
@BramNUFC Thanks this seemed to be related specifically to quoting people who have commented on a person in the Data Update and should be fixed now 🙂

@Footygamer An issue with the ids here
Footygamer
Whoops, caused by me importing a bunch of old cut outs where we didn't have an ID in the original import but accidentally linking some to clubs and nations.
Fixed now.

Can any of the staff delete Antoni Borts bald photo please

@Footygamer , there are a couple of links not working correctly in the FC 12 kits download area, getting a page not found 404 error message when redirecting to FMSlovakia.com. There is also one pack, the MLS 2022 which redirects to the wrong kit pack as it goes to USL championship 2022 instead.
The broken links are:
Japan J League 2021 (V 1.5)

I have put a comment in each forum section but was advised to post here as well. Many thanks if you can help.
Footygamer
@einherjer83 do you need a hand fixing these?

All links are fixed now, thanks for your help.

@Footygamer I might be nitpicking here, but some PNGs on the site can be optimized.
Also, using the lighthouse extension I get some accessibility and SEO issues as well. I don't know how difficult to resolve them, so it's up to you whether they're worth the hassle.
Footygamer
25x18 is the size the game uses and we just use those images. I don't think there's a massive reason to resize again for 18x18 for the site, but it could be done.
For the files listed in assets/graphic_styles these have been compressed manually using https://tinypng.com/ . The uncompressed versions are actually saved in a directory lower called “un compressed” if you want to compare yourself.
Here is SS Kits 200kb vs 14kb:
If you run it through again, it becomes 10kb, although i'm not particularly keen on recompressing compressed images.
I can't tell what your screenshot is showing other than the images are listed, it's not recommending a better size is it?
It's on the todo list to look into https://bunny.net/ however I tried to migrate all images and resizing to cloudflare images in November but it was less flexible and more expensive than I thought and I imagine bunny could be similar but it's hard to estimate beforehand.
Right now the cost is almost zero to us since Cloudflare cache the images, it can escalate to 4 figures per month with some of these tools and CDNs.
Resizing ourselves is something we already for for thumbnails, but not for all the icons and with multi sizes and responsive srcset due a mix of time and effort and disk space.
So yes it's something i've looked into and am aware of but not necessarily something i'm prioritising 😀

My bad, I thought that the icon was 1x1 like the larger cutouts/logos.
On the front page, as well as the downloads menu, I see that you used 180x180 images and resized them to 50x50, so those could be downsized serverside and save some bandwidth, right?
I'm only saying this in case you didn't know and wanted to save some bandwidth and in turn, save some money. If you don't think it's something worth prioritizing, that's your call 👍
Footygamer
Bandwidth of 10kb really makes no difference cost wise when we're also offering 10+ GB files 😀
Cloudflare also caches those so no real cost to us, as do peoples browsers, offering different sizes in the navigation/homepage etc would actually add extra load for the user since they'd have to download another version rather than just use the version in their browsers cache.
You can check if something is cached by Cloudflare using the “cf-cache-status” header.
Although they should also be compressed with brotli or gzip and my quick check shows that's not happening so i'll look into that now.
EDIT: I forgot there's no point compressing PNGs because they are already compressed formats.
krissmed
Those 10 kb saved obviously wouldn't have any significant impact for individual users, but those are likely downloaded millions of times a month, which does turn into a couple of gigabytes combined.
That said, I still think you should look into the accessibility and SEO issues mentioned in the lighthouse report.
Footygamer
1GB bandwidth is between $0.01 and $0.09 depending on region so “a couple of gigabytes combined" is still between 2 and 18 cents.
For comparison users downloaded 656,747 GB of files last month.
And like I said cloudflare caches it for free so it's only requested from our servers once. So it costs us literally nothing.
I'll look into lighthouse and SEO recommendations again.

Well now i've gone down a 2 hour rabbit hole and integrated Bunny CDN. This is why the bigger projects don't get done 😅
Lets see how the costs go over the coming days.
